I've got a problem
I liked Kat's suggestion to figure out projects for while I am alone and have free time.
Trouble is I can be so resistant to starting things and make excuses to myself about
upcoming commitments with others and as such (for my projects) there's not enough time
to do it. I need to own this - and own my health. Also, when alone I can become so sheepish
about life that I can start spinning negative paranoias about others in my life.
I catch it - but then I feel bad that it ever was inspired within me.
And so this is my problem (are my problems.)
Sometimes when I have projects, I'll still spin so hyper-like that my activity won't be
enough to contain myself. Perhaps I should just look at this with a kind of acceptance..
the nature of the beast - this beast has his nature - that he must learn to wrangle like
a wild stallion - don't break him - but encourage him to get going in the good direction.
peace and happy Superbowl!

Is it procrastination? You gotta jump strong with all determination on things. I like projects. I don’t always finish them, but the ones i do finish have real benefits and feelings of accomplishments. Even if they are tiny little projects! I hope you find some good ones that fill the extra space that only allows for worry. You can do it! Start small!
thanks Nikki!
Sounds to me like you got this figured. Now to give that stallion his direction and let his wild spirit run. It's okay if he runs off track every now and again.
Keep your heels down, cowboy.
For what it's worth
"keep your heels down" makes for an interesting web search.
Thanks Arfie!!
Here's the full surround of the process as it works for me.
I wrote out ten different sized projects that I wanted to at least look at doing this past year. Out of those ten, none were ever finished. However, I found other projects and finished those over the past year, so I learned that in my thinking - that the feelings associated with the original ten different sized projects were part of the process.
What gives you peace of mind is the best one to work with first.
Here's to writing it out and enjoying the meandering and wandering and gentle choice to do what works in the moment.
I'm a little different. I plan a project and gather what I need to get that project done. I usually set a limit, say 2 weeks in which I want to have that finished, the mess cleaned up and any odds and ends taken to the dumpster.
I know I have 2 weeks alloted time to finish the project, albeit it's usually something that can easily be done in a few days, but I factor in work, illness, just not wanting to mess with it, etc. Generally by the 2 weeks I have it finished.
I'm also one of those people that cannot stand crap being in my house or yard unless it had a purpose to be there, so the extra added push of getting the junk out of my space helps propel me to finish the project.
And when I'm working I do my damnedest to keep instrusive thought out of the picture. I wear my ear pods with music blaring, I make sure i'm in a comfy space where I'm relaxed, and I just focus on the music and what I'm doing. I keep the negative out...if it breaks thru and my thoughts start to focus more and more on negative crap, I set aside what I'm doing and go do something else. I'm aware enough of my own mind and thought patterns that I know when it's time to break the negative thoughts and not give them crap to feed on.
Take care, Mark.
Projects are possible too even if you live in an apartment like I do. I think of my homeowner friends and families and they always have so much to do. But don’t let that discourage!
I really like organization projects when I’m feeling slight hypomania building.. I’m waiting for the stimulus check to purchase one more small cabinet to complete a big organization project but am getting ready for it.
I always talk about my list-making - it truly gives me structure. I’m always making progress towards projects. Cleaning projects, organizational projects, creative projects, my next big project is to organize my bookshelves and put together donations, or I may start a new project in my neighborhood to do book swaps. Cooking a new meal and trying a new recipe is good! Or baking. Still possible with porch pickups. I want to take another coursera course too!
It’s within you and my examples are just me sharing some or the things in my project lists. Something to brainstorm over with a therapist too!
Lists Rule!!!!
Thanks so much you guys!!
