I've been losing weight this week
Dear DS diary,
I check my weight twice weekly. I pretty much have to because it acts as a check-off for my eating habits.
But this week, my eating has been anything but normal. My reading came up 157 pounds flat. That's actually underweight for my size, and there a few reasons why.
One is the difficult feeling of resignation that I'm not going to find the kind of strength training program I need to supplement my runs. As conceded in the last entry, I've had problems with everything I've looked at. But it doesn't seem to matter which search time I use, I keep getting back the same crappy search results.
So a follower wanted to know if I wanted to make a return trip to Beachbody. I pretty much had no choice but to shoot that idea down when crosschecks revealed that most of the Beachbody trainers aren't certified. That's a stopper because an article I read on Shape.com warned me to make sure the on-screen trainer is certified before you jump in. What that translates to is that if I can't even do a crosscheck on a trainer, I have to assume they're a "fake".
But what's really the problem is that an interview in Boston the other day. The position is for a sales photographer at the New England Aquarium. Not really the kind of position that I would like to have, but a couple of factors are in play. One is that some of the recruiters I've talked to have expressed concern that I'm not up on the latest accounting trends, which is true (I'm not). Second, while the sales part would drive me a bit batty probably, I do like taking photos and I won't have contact with people other than co-workers for more than a few minutes at a time. It works around my semi-paranoia issues instead of trying to solve them (yes, that does matter).
I was so anxious over the interview that I had trouble keeping stuff in my stomach. I skipped lunch four times. On the morning of the interview, I threw up. On the afternoon after the interview, I felt so stressed out after the half-hour interview that I couldn't go see the aquarium itself. The next day I wanted to go get lunch as part of doing a drink run for someone else and couldn't make up my mind...so I said to hell with it and simply did the drink run after a couple of minutes.
I can tell my blood sugar is off as a result because today I don't have a lot of energy going. But the lady who interviewed me seemed to like me, and there is a chance for me to possibly be hired for 2 or 3 days to start with the possibility to add more if I prove myself. It's not hard for me to get there, so if I'm offered it I'm going to take it.
It's just that it will come at a price.
