I have been looking for work since Aug. 26, 2008.  What is your secret?
I am over 50.  Maybe it is time for a career change.  I have to figure what else I can do as I have been a receptionist for over 26 years now.  It is bad economic times. They want younger and smarter people than myself.  Its not bad to have a career change in your life but you have to know what you want to do or what you can do.   I am still trying to figure that one out myself.  I have skills and am talented in my field.  I think I got job burn out at my last place.  It is nice not work but I am getting ansy again to have the routine of the 9-5.
I am keeping busy babysitting my grandson and both my daughter and future son-in-law really appreciate this as it saves them spending money on day care or other paid babysitters.  This way I really get to know my grandson who just turned one on June 9th.
All the best to everyone out there looking for work and I wish you all much success from Diane B.

I think employers do shy away from the 50+ group. They probably think you won\'t give them many years of service before you decide to retire. Good luck! I hope you find something soon. Barbara

Good luck with finding something soon. I think it\'s vital, that if health permits that one keep occupied as much as possible. I will be 50 next year. I have been with my company for 10 years now and have no plans to leave. What about some sort of Sales Position, maybe Representative. This is also an awesome way of meeting people, going around selling, etc. Best wishes to you!
