I think we’re alone now

It's been a while, a long while, I thought I lost this account but thankfully nothing is truly lost to the void. At least in terms of the Internet.

I found myself the other day, or a semblance of what I was, and found that she was not who I thought I was.
I was chubby, awkward, self-deprecating and harsh towards others and myself for so long that when I saw my reflection... I realized that's not who I am anymore.

it may sound silly, perhaps even like some kind of poorly written movie plot, but I truly did wake up one morning; suddenly beautiful.
I had lost the water weight, my skin began clearing, my nose and eyes became balanced with my face and my hair wasn't as greasy or gnarly. I thought I entered the twilight zone when I went outside and had a gentleman open the door for me, making eye contact and smiling.

That was never a common thing for me, unless another girl was in front of me or someone more attractive or elderly. Then I was being helped in stores, in public, and in private areas and in work. I wasn't seen as ugly or as the girl who was, but the girl who is.

Then the strangest thing happened, a person who I had admired all this time had finally reached out to me and told me they loved me. It was sudden, they had never shown interest in me or took me seriously. Talking with them then was like talking to someone who was desperate to leave and go join their friends who were about to take off.

Now their moment of weakness had rendered them vulnerable and I was there to pick up the pieces and help them love themselves again. Or perhaps begin to. They then asked me to be theirs and that they loved me, however this came as a shock to me since we had only just begun being "Us" if that makes sense, and the process period was still new.

I will admit to feeling jaded, that they now only see me when they themselves have fallen so far. That I've admired and adored them from a distance and now... they suddenly profess their love so suddenly and so soon only to run.

it's been nearly... 4 months perhaps? I last spoke with them on my birthday and since then... nothing. They left and their was no word and I worried that my lack of a response in reciprocating the sudden confession of love had wounded them. I tried reaching out but to little avail and yet their is still hope in me he will return. How stupid I sound?

I don't know, although it's been so long and his confession of love caught me by surprise I loved him all the same through the years and was angry by his blindness of noticing how I too loved him, yet he was cold to respond and ignored me harshly. I wish he would return but I do accept that what is done is done and that I will inevitably have to move on, perhaps one day will come where we understand each other better.

I do see the irony in this, perhaps it’s a cruel realization of everything or myself.
