"I pretty love it".......an answer to prayer.

Good Morning Ya’ll,
it was morning when I started.........had to take a couple of breaks - DS is being testy, lol.
Happy News to share today.  But first - In the middle of the night I heard such a clatter that I sprang (in super slo mo) from my bed to see what was the matter.  Rio Clause streaked by me and hid under the bed.
Clean UP on Aisle 5!  Rio Clause did not bring presents.  He knocked a potted plant off the kitchen window sill, into the sink - dirt was everywhere.  At 2 o’clock in the morning dirt spatter is far from charming.  Shook out the rug, got the broom, got busy............thought this job doesn’t pay very well and wished that Rio had opposable thumbs.  Scooping potting soil out of the sink and the drain, the counter.........I do not like the way Rio GARDENS at all.
(I have got to come up with a solution.......I hear ya!)
On to Happy News.  Got my Sara hugs!  Ode to Joy! She called, wanted to come by & bring lunch too.  Thank you Lord for this answer to prayer!  We sat at this very table and scooped sticky white rice, chicken and yummy vegetables out of the shiny Chinese paper cartons onto plates........she even brought me my favorite sizzling rice soup!  Ahhhhhhhhh!
When she called she said that she didn’t have much time to visit.  When she got here we hugged and she was doing something with her phone.  I asked her what she was doing.  She was setting the alarm on her phone to remind her when to leave.
I asked her why are you alway saying good-bye before you even say hello?  She looked confused.  I tried again......I said, You call and you let me know that you have to go before you even get here and now you are setting a phone alarm clock to leave?  I said it softly and pressed on..........we choose our priorities in life.  We do.......I miss you, love you, want to spend time with you.  I can’t say it any clearer than that Angel............
She hugged me again and it all kind of spilled out.........
She had been running errands all day and still had to get a massage way over on the other side of town.......more than an hour away.  She promised her hubby she would catch up on laundry, said her house is outta control and  ............  that her hubby has been concerned & complaining about how stressed and grumpy she’s been lately.  He was ordering her to get THAT MASSAGE!
She turned off her alarm clock........we visited for four hours.  I think it was good, really good.
We talked about being overbooked, stressed, stretched out way to thin. About learning how to re-evaluate priorities and get things back in balance.   Asked her to “Slow it down, talk to me”........we talked.  Talked and talked.  It was peaceful, it was good........to sit in this kitchen and talk things over.  I did a lot more listening and kept my remarks to a minimum......praying for God to help me before she arrived really HELPED.
She seemed shocked to realize that I have not seen/talked to.....nothing from her mate since last December.  Shocked that Sam & I are talking about kidnapping her in order to get some time with her........about the lag time returning calls and so forth.  I said these things as gently as possible, I said them firmly and quietly and then I shut my mouth.  I did not go on or over state or elaborate over the top.  Thank you God for guiding and guarding my tongue.
We talked......we laughed, we hugged and it felt very grown up, relaxing.  Very mother/daughterish.............something important is changing with us.  It’s a good important step in our journey going forward...........God can move mountains...........so why not trust him to move our hearts and open up our minds?
We celebrated the one year anniversary since she recreated my first floor living space in this house.  We both love it.........and I love seeing the pride in her.  I have got to find a way to get over to the cafe and see her work there live and in person.  Wish ya’ll could go with me!
She shared the rough cuts of her EP with me and I cried..............the first song was fine, really good.............the second and third song hit those softy soft tender Momma feelings.............nothing like blue eyes crying in the rain.
There has always been this thing between Sara & I. She holds her breath a bit.......I am some sort of litmus test, my reactions seem to help her guage things in her life. This music, this wonderful music.....that second song was so soft........I didn’t even know the rainclouds had formed - suddenly I was crying.
It is so many things.........her voice, the lyrics, the music..........pride, happiness at hearing something so beautiful...........seeing her own joy and loving her so much.  She thought she was on the right track........trying to get this music that she has been hearing in her head for the past year........out into the world, put it into words, on paper, create the music.......seeing my gut reaction told her she was dead on in listening to her own gut instincts.  Then she played the next song and that had me really crying.  Oh my.........We talked and talked........about the arrangements, about some of the more technical aspects, things to be added, these are rough cuts, so there hasn’t been any formal mixing done yet..........they are good, very good.
She also asked me THE Question......if I wasn’t her Mother and heard these four songs what would I think.  My initial reaction is that two of the songs are more within my own personal wheelhouse.......BUT the other two could become favorites if I heard them a few times on the radio......... I have a strong love of music and I can be found singing anything from Kelly Clarkson to Joan Jett to Etta James to Ella Fitzgerald to who laid it............so not to count me out from going crazy over them too........LOL!
I was surprised at how much rock is at the heart of the sound she is going for.......it’s a modern take, just enough edge.........it’s great music, love the unexpected but oh so right on time wonderful phrasing, the dissonance and the harmony that hits all the right spots in the soul.  Music is very personal........and beautiful.  I can’t wait until she creates the rest of the harmony layers and it is all mixed...........it is gonna be so crazy awesome!  That child has some serious pipes.............
What a world we live in.
Our eyes alone can distinguish between 2.5 milion colors............random fact I want to share at this moment...............pretty amazing huh?  Colors, sights and sounds, we are pretty amazing critters, yes we are.
Caught the end of Extreme Make-Over last night.......this little boy sat in his over the top cool kid room and the decorator asked him what he thought............he said, “I pretty love it!" as he high fived the lady.
So that’s my new phrase of the day............I pretty love it.  Who would not want to have or see or be a part of PRETTY LOVE????????  Count me in, wishing you a moment in your life soon where you can say that you pretty love it too!
Thank you for your prayers, for your encouragement......God has been listening!
Your grateful bird bird pal,
Sparrow

Oh Ruth I\'m so happy you got your \"Pretty Love\"....I pretty love it! :). God answered your prayers. You got more than your Sara hugs. I bet she has a beautiful voice . Is she going to record a CD? I guess she must be in the music field. Does Sam sing too? Must run in the family. I wish I could sing... My younger sister sings & plays instruments. She\'s in a band with her hubby. Her daughter is in a band too. The second daughter\'s sings & plays with them often.
Rio needs a sandbox to play in. Lol. I can just picture you at 2 A.M. Cleaning up Rio\'s mess! :). God is good! So so happy for you. Sara is growing up :). I\'m glad you have your son & daughter. Now rest up. Love ya xo

Great News about your time with Sara. I know you feel much better that the two of you were able to have that quality time. Kids & grandkids are the best blessings we can have as we grown older.

Not so good about Rio, but boys will boys. Even at the oddest time of the day too.

Hope things are going pretty good for you & you are moving ahead with your plans for Christmas.

I\'m SO happy about the visit with Sara! I know how much that meant to you. We moms are always moms and kids will be kids. The mother/daughter dynamic is a difficult one. They seem to want to pull away from us as they grow older....independence thing I think. Boys hang around with mom for a longer time. Saw it in my own family. I was outta the house by 18 and off to college. My other brother went to law school close by and commuted. (still by mom) and brother number two came by sixteen years later WHAT? Yea, slight miscalculation on the menopause there......so he was the baby, and had mama not passed, he\'d still be living with her!

I\'m a daddy\'s girl. It\'s always been that way. I loved my mom to death, but my daddy is my numero uno man. Bobby\'s just was to NOT be like my dad! My father is a suit and tie, preacher man. I married a jeans and T-shirt rebel. Ahhhhhhhhh yes, the balance!! It matters!

This was a wonderful journal about Sara, and your love for her and an absolute re-connection between the two of you, and I pretty loved it!!
