I made it through the 2 year anniversary date.
I made it through the two year anniversary date of Smokey's passing yesterday.
I was alone in the morning which was horrible.
Carol picked me up at 11:30 and we went to Ikea and 3 other lighting stores. We had lunch at Ikea. We go back to her car and find out she locked the keys in the car. We had to wait until her boyfriend got home from work so he could pick Carol up & take her home. She has a 2nd set of keys in her apartment. They dropped me off at my place. It was nice of them. I got home at 3:00 p.m. just in time for Dave to come by at 3:15 p.m.
Smokey locked the keys in his car three times and always during the winter months. After the 3rd time he gave me a set of keys. It helped. He never locked the keys in the car again. It took me back down memory road. I mentioned it to Carol as well. I said why don't people lock their keys in the car during the summer months. It is usually during the winter months.
Dave and I went to the Pumphouse. I drank one beer in Smokey's honor and played his Keno numbers. I invested $4 and won $30. Not bad. Thanks to Smokey. I would normally not play his numbers. It was nice all around.
With the help of DS, my faith, family and friends, I made it through the 2nd year anniversary relatively unscathed. I made it. Does it get any easier than this? It was the date that was the hardest but the build up to it. I really felt it starting last week and built up to the actually date.

Diane...I think you are right...it is the anticipation that gets us instead of the actually date. I felt the same way the week before. And now that it has passed life is back to \"normal\" as far as normal goes for me. Getting up alone and crawling into bed at night I still can\'t get use to but I am grateful for my job that keeps me busy and my home that has never ending things that need to be done and family and friends that love and support me...my DS friends are very special to me...wish we could have a big conference some day that would be a hoot...Hugs, Ellen
