I'm beyond scared & have to make decisions - ugh!!!

I'm beyond scared and have to make decisions.
1.  Dave's drinking is what is going to break us up.  If he did not have a drinking problem, we would have a rock solid relationship.  He does have a drinking problem.  I have to make a decision about this.
2.  I am beyond scared that I have not had a job offer and need something by the end of the year or before the end of the year.  If I can't pay the yearly taxes next year, something has got to give.  Welfare won't give me any money because I collect Smokey's pension.  It's the only thing that I have to live on it is just over $500.  It's not much that is for sure but at least it is something.  I can maintain my monthly bills with a little left over for food.  Dave always cook dinner, which has spoiled me. Without Dave in my life, my dinners would be cheap like surviving on KD or something like it.  It scares me.
The bright spot in my life is my daughter, son-in-law to be and grandson Tyson. Tyson lights up my life that is for sure.  I am glad I get to babysit Tyson.  It get to know him a lot.  Lisa is working part-time and going to school part-time to upgrade herself from a Registerd Care Attendent to Acute Care.  I am proud of Lisa.

All the best from Diane B.

Diane,
Cheap dinners, to me, would be better than existing with someone who has a drinking problem. If it\'s causing issues in your relationship, then it\'s not a good thing and it\'s not going to get better unless he gets help for the problem.
I\'m glad that you have your family there as your bright spot. There is nothing like children in your life to bring light !!
Time to make some decisions and I wish you the best. Hugs,
Chris

It\'s such a sad part of our lives that we have to worry about finances. I can collect my husband\'s social security when I turn 60. I\'ll give a sigh of relief when that happens.

I hope you can sort Dave\'s drinking problem out, he seems like such a nice guy, pity about the drinking and just a warning from a friend, it can get worse. As for your financial situation sorry to hear, not going to well this side either.
We can get through this, somehow.
Hugs

Diane, I am sorry to know about this. Of course you must do what feels right to you. But please continue to give this long, careful thought as you seem to be doing. To keep a long story short, my father was an alcoholic, which broke up my family when I was 7. Karen is right: it can become a very serious situation. Your safety has to come first. By the way, there is another very nice website just for us widows at WidowVillage.com. I just discovered it a few days ago, but I will still spend time here at DS too because this is where I first found my lifeline. Big hugs, Patti

I agree with Chris. You have enough on your plate without the added burden of an alcoholic to contend with. DId the temp agencies not work for you? I would register with as many as there are in your area. Something has to click. Hugs, Wendy

I know that you love Dave, but sounds like the drinking is an issue that has to be dealt with. I know that he is probably wanting it to work out, but you have to decide what is best for you now. I am proud of your daughter too. I know that making a living is hard and the economy sucks big time. I don\'t know if you feel it bad in Canada, but here in USA it is hard. I hope that you are having a peaceful day. Hugs~Shelley
