I give up. . .

I feel like everytime I get my hopes up for something even something silly and small it gets taken away. My current temp poistion should have hired me last Friday, but came to me the week after Mother's Day and said they were gonna wait another month before hiring me. What?!? They had also promised that I would get my health insurance right away no 90 day wait or anything. I was also told that although it "might" still be possible that it wasn't by any means definite. WTF???? Now 90 more days AFTER they hire me to get insurance. Nice.
DH and I had been planning a weekend getaway in Feb for my Bday when I lot my job. We had to cancel it because of the money and DH promised that we would take the trip as soon as it was feasible. We had decided on Memorial Day weekend. I was origially hoping that we would be TTC by the time the trip came around, but that's not going to happen. We were both still looking forward to the trip, as when I do eventually get hired I won't get any paid time off for almost ayear (YIKES). DH took off yesterday and today as since when haven't gone anywhere he has accumulated a lot of time off. About 2 months ago DH was diagnosed with a rare form of degenerative arthritis. He has been doing OK on hs meds, but we are still waiting for the results from a myriad of tests. Yesterday his knees got so swollen that he couldn't even walk. I mean the guy was in seriously bad shape. He hasn't had this type of problm since going on the meds, which means they are most likely no longer working after on 6-8 weeks of use.
There is no way that he can make a 2 hour car trip and our destination hs a LOT of walking. He is really depressed ad upset that we can't go, and frankly so am I. I am so sick of things like this happening. It's just not right. I know that there are much worse things that losingĀ a weekend away, but it just feels like even the small things I try and do to feel better, more normal just get taken away too.
What's the point?

((((HUGS)))) I know you had all of your hopes & dreams pinned on that job, but it isn\'t stopping you - it\'s just that you\'re hitting a little speed bump to slow you down a bit.

Could the 2 of you go somewhere else where there wouldn\'t be as much walking this weekend? Do you absolutely have to go to the original place that you\'d planned? Even if you just drive out to a B&B in the country it would be a nice & relaxing getaway for the 2 of you. If you have your heart set on the original destination, what\'s the possibility that you could still go & just use a wheelchair for the long walks? Maybe somebody you know has one that you could borrow?

I hope you feel better soon (& your DH), & that you get to do something special this weekend.

Just wanted to say thanks so much for the support! After a LONG Dr.\'s appointment DH decided that he wanted to try and take the trip despite his issues with walking. He was WAY too proud to use the wheelchair, altough we did have access to one, he ended up using a cane and we took breaks every half hour or so. Not exactly what we planned, but we did manage to relax a little! I am sorry if I have seemed whiny lately. I really need to stop feeling so defeated and just get on with things, it just seems sometimes that everything is at a standstill!

Hey, you are NOT whiny! You have a ton of stuff being thrown at you that you are dealing with with such grace ... you are entitled to ask why the world is throwing so much at you. You guys don\'t deserve this - what you deserve is the insurance you were promised and the baby you\'d be an awesome Mom too! I totally get the feelings of despiar when one more thing gets slung at you! I am the same way - and it\'s made worse by the fact we are coping so well most of the time. It makes us feel as though we\'re entitled to a little credit and a little ease instead of just more being heaped upon us. You so rarely vent, but you\'re always supporting us .... you take a turn and tell us how it feels if it helps you!
I am really glad you managed to get away - even if it wasn\'t the break you planned. See - that\'s how gracious you are! I am so sorry about your hubby\'s diagnosis - my brother and I also have arthritis (for me it\'s part of having Lupus) and have had for years. We both have good spells and bad spells and the balancing of meds becomes the most important factor! It\'s so hard when you\'re first hit with the diagnosis and the seeking of information is a double edged sword isn\'t it? But knowing what\'s available in terms of treatment is key - and accepting that the bad days have to be born but that good days are plentiful is the best way to stave of that depression and fear. If either of you want to talk about it - you know where I am! Tell him - I was hospitalized and on a tond of meds for years and thought it was over for me - now I take nothing but supplements and the occasional pain relief! It\'s a horrible condition at times but doesn\'t have to take over completely.
I can\'t believe you\'re stupid employer can treat you this way - I hate this economy right now because it seems morality has gone out the window in an employers market! maybe you should keep casting that net for other opportunities just in case? Just know, that whilst properly insured is the most comfortable way to go - it isn\'t the only way and you will have that baby soon lady.
Lots of love and best wishes to both of you xxxxx
