I get it
I never got it when my dad died how it affected my Mother. I only understood me. My dad died in 1985. I am now older than my dad was when he passed. I also never understand what my mother went through. She is probably one of the strongest people I know. I never knew the pain she was in until now. I am so very sorry i didn't know. It's been 29 months and I hurt just as much as the first day you left me. I love you so. You are in my thoughts every day every minute. I know it's never gonna be any different ever. I can't wait until I see you again.

Jeff, I was only thinking this week that my grandfather was only 64 when he died when I was 14. Only 3 years older than Martin got to be. My grandmother lived another 30 years and the only inkling I got about how much she was still missing him was when I was in my 30s and she asked if I was ever getting married :) I said that my brothers had come through and had children so that was enough. She surprised me by saying that wasn\'t why she was asking, she just wanted for me the love she\'d had. I only know now some of what she was experiencing.
Yea, everything changes when we lose someone this close.
Yes Jeff
My father died at the age of 63. As you stated about your mother, my mother was a mush stronger person than myself. She must have had terrible grief, however still remained the mother we needed. I too feel as you, Waking up, going to sleep and just living is so painful. I hope i am doing as well as my mother did for my two daughters.

Yea. My dad died at 58. I\'m now 61. I felt 58 was a milestone and figured every day after that for me was a gift. My wife passed at 63, two years short of her dads age of 65 when he passed. Who knew. We never expected cancer, nobody does. It\'s ironic how family members all go at similar ages.
Take care, Jeff
I often think about my mom after my dad died. I had no idea what she was going through. So sad it took losing my husband to understand. Sharon
Oh, Jeff, I know what you mean. When my mom died I was so heartbroken that I never thought about what my dad was going through. It will haunt me forever that I wasn\'t a source of comfort to him. No one understands the pain of losing a spouse unless they\'ve experienced it themselves.
Hugs,
Janie
I too never had a clue what my mother went through when she lost my Dad. I was pretty insensitive. That was 21 years ago and mom passed 2 years ago so she lived without him for 19 years. I will never know how she got through it. My mother in law lasted a year after my father in law died then she couldn\'t take it so she took her life. I always thought she was so weak. Now I understand how much pain she was in too. It\'s 5 1/2 months for me and his birthday is March 1st which is 2 days short of 6 months. I\'m already reeling just thinking about it. It\'s too bad it takes us walking in someone else\'s shoes for us to get it.
