I can't sleep since she's gone

It's almost 3 am and I'm still up.  I've never been able to sleep well if she was away or heck if I was away on business.  She's gone and I just can't get myself to go to bed.  If she was here and felt like staying up to watch some stupid show - no problem, I could go in at a decent hour and get some sleep.  Every time she's ever gone away, like to go up and see her parents in Jersey for like 4 days I just never could go to bed at a decent hour.  We laughed about it.  We were on the phone very late and I still stayed up hours after we hung up.
Now I can't do that.  She's not coming back in a couple days.  I need sleep.  I have to get up and go to a job.  OMG!!  I can't even think about pills to help me sleep.  And it's never been about trying to sleep and can't.  I can't go in and try without her here but this time she's not coming back.
God help me!!

So sorry for your loss. I too have trouble sleeping. At first it wasn\'t to much of an issue as I did not work. Now I work and need my rest so I take Benedryl. I pray that you find something that helps you.

I never slept well either, and it definitely got much worse during my husband\'s illness and after he passed. Still isn\'t great 4 years later. Your mind is still reeling. It takes a long long time to process all that is happening to you. It must feel like the world is piling on and that in itself can be overwhelming. You need to sleep, there are organic remedies which can help with that ie: sleepy time tea, melatonin and HTP5. Anxiety and stress are major factors that keep sleep at bay, something to calm your nerves, would not be admitting a weakness, it will help you sleep, which would make you handle being back at work and working through your grief. It might be time to ask the doctor for some help. We all need it from time to time. What you are going through is incredibly exhausting and emotionally taxing, don\'t try and do it alone. Keep talking, journalling, it will help. Lori

I am so sorry you are going through such a loss. My husband has been gone 3 weeks and I cannot sleep. I didn\'t sleep in our bed for the first 2 weeks. I slept on the couch. I finally was so exhausted I tried the bed, but never sleep for more than an hour at a time. Up and down all night long. I also leave all the lights on in the rest of the house. Very disruptive but only way I can relax at all. Hard to function when you are sleep deprived. Try some sleepytime tea or maybe benedryl I\'ve heard helps. I sometimes take herbal sleep remedies, but still don\'t really get sleep for very long. Just keep trying to find people to talk to and maybe write your thoughts and feelings down. It helps you see which days are better than others. I wish you peace and a few hours of sleep.
