hurricane mia.......

somehow i think i was chosen for mia sheerly for some much needed exercise.  for me.

this morning i entered the living room and surveyed what the night had wrought.  the pale green afghan on the left back of the sofa was now four feet away from the couch.  couch pillows splayed on the floor.  two other afghans were also lifted on their resting places by that tiny furry wind.....maybe i should have named her Mariah???

she bit and tore at the top kleenex, knocked it off the end table onto the floor......mia, mia, mia......enter the kitchen. the scratching post was on it's side......the red placemats were off the table, she thought they would also look better on the floor........mia the REdecorator.   the rug in front of the kitchen sink was now on the other side, upside down folded in half and laying in front of the stove.

i walked past it all like it was no biggie.  hah.  as if i will react.  i'm a calm human.  sometimes i am.......

i put some stuff in the washer, did the dishes......tidied the kitchen, then the living room.  then the bed.  mixed up some of that insanely good chocolate cake, poured it into a bundt pan and drug the vacuum cleaner into the bedroom.

this all sounds like it happened with a snap of a finger......no, not even.  at all. no i promise you it happens in funny little bursts of quiet steadfast hope.  i think i can, i will try........knock that T off the word CAN'T!  that's my plan.  i do something, then sit and drift off into my little fogs.....come back and reboot this old human frame of try try again.

i had a hard time getting to sleep last night cause ruth and george are coming.  george has neurovascular disease.  he is as sweet as pie, but due to his illness he has a lot of forgetfulness.......which leads to reasking the same questions, not remembering what was just talked about and so forth.  but he is a darling man......he has always treated ruth very well, an honorable man.  ruth and i worked together all those years, she still works there, now in her 70's......if illness hadn't stopped me i'd still be there too.

ruth and i were born one week apart, we both came to work at AEE in the same month........but we weren't born in the same year nor did we start work in the same year......we shared a wall between our offices for many many years and we always got along great.  she was always known as ruthie until she came to work there, everyone called her Ruth.  then i came along......always called Ruth....but because it was confusing to be both called Ruth so close in proximity to each other all day long I became Ruthie......stupid to share this, but some things in life are sort of stupid.....so we reversed our names within our names for all that time......over twenty years......and the funny thing?  i call her Whit......not Ruth at all.  so there you go, now you know.  why Whit?  that is the first syllable of her last name.  it makes sense in my head and she likes it, so we are agreed.  high five. this is the end of that long winded explanation about people name ruth/ruthie/whit.

i'm going to break out my electric rollers.  plug those bad boys in and see if i can curl my hair.  when i was in high school i had really long hair......almost to my elbows.  the local girls and i came up with a kooky solution.  we would pull our hair up on top of our heads in a pony tail and roll our hair in empty rinsed out frozen concentrate orange juice cans.  those "cans" were made of a type of heavy-ish aluminum which was softer than regular canned goods.  in the morning you'd take the cans off, shake out your pony tail and have all these big waves ready to go with no more fuss.   but yes we looked VERY WEIRD walking around with juice cans on top of our heads.  lots of teasing about that went on........brothers.  hmmmph!

getting that prednisone out of my body is giving me a kind of internal glow again.  a happier girl.......a saner, less angry, less irritable, less nutso crazio girl.  still some moodiness there, but overall i see a lot of good signs.  the owls are returning home today.......i really wanted to go.  made my peace but it's still a sigh of sadness, which is ok to feel.  it's hard missing out on those rare opportunities to see another view.

the sun is beautiful through the trees.......oak leaves are scattered everywhere.......in a little while i'll make the glaze for the cake.....that yummy creamy hot chocolate powdered sugar glaze........the powdered sugar granules disappear and it glides over the cake.......looks so purty!  purty is country for pretty! time to go......hugs and hugs and more hugs to you this day!  thank you for sharing.......bits of your life and ideas with me.  you're a wonder!!!!!!!!!

Hurricane Mia ♥ Kittens have so much energy everything they see is a toy and adventure.
Sorry, your things are taking a hit from Mia. I have those furniture scars here as well from my kitties
I hope your visit with Ruth and George is a lovely one. I am so happy for you. Sounds like your and Whit are sisters of the heart. Lots of catching up to do. Your chocolate cake sounds lovely.

Love you Ruthie ♥

i think Mia might better be called Hellcat. If cats would only shred our furniture uniformly, all over. At least it would look smoother then.

Pets and little children are their own form of physical therapy! Tiring, but much more fun than physical therapy. I don't know anything about cats, having always been a dog owner, but is this the kitten stage and Mia will outgrow her more wild side? It is so good to hear you sounding a little better. That prednisone can be rough to deal with. I've been praying for you, Ruthie, formerly Ruth, now Serce. LOL
