How are you doing?

So, how are you doing?
Really?  How many of us have heard that question?  Oh yes I understand it comes from concern but HOLY COW - how do you think I'm doing?  My wife died.  At FIFTY ONE!!!!
Other than that I'm just ducky.
It's so not fair to other people who with true concern ask that question and make my head want to explode.  Can you believe that my wife's sister (who by the way is truly one of my best friends for like 40 years) asks me that question every other day by text (her favorite communication until it gets overwhelming).
Trust me, I love this woman more than most people on the planet.  But I don't get why she asks that question.  How the "F" do you think I'm doing?  My wife of 27 years and your sister of fifty-f-in-one years is no longer here.
I'm a little put out!!
I hate that I typed all that.  Lenore, Suzanne's big sister and truly my best friend (next to Chris her brother) for like 40  years has been helping me and watching me since my Suzanne (her baby sister) passed away.
I'll bet most people deal with the "how ya doing?" question so I guess this was just a rant
thank God for daily strength and my friends here.  I think I'm going to change to OK - thank you all

Yes, we all get that at some point. Sometimes, the best thing is just to say that you are \'doing\' and you can\'t say more than that. Hang in there.....

You are right to feel this way. Your SIL and good friend should know that you are not and will not be \"okay\" for a long long time. I agree its coming from a good place but pa leez. They just don\'t know how to help us or make it better. You rant whenever you need to. Take care, Lori
