Hot hot hot!

It's been a hot week here in North Carolina. This is day 5 of a major heat wave that has been setting records in our state for high temps. (This is the one reason I hesitate to move to Florida. The only one.) I'm finding that just stepping out into the heat is enough to start a migraine if I don't already have one, so taking measures to keep that reasonable. I can't stay home every day, but I am trying to keep the sun outta my eyes. Sunglasses before I go out, hat to keep the sun off my face, take lunch to work so I'm not having to go out in the mid-day heat, and hydrate. I have an appt with the doc today, so we'll discuss the heat issue. I also have to call the neuro psych since he wanted me off the gabapentin and I clearly *need* a preventative and he's picky about which one.
This week it seems that each morning I'm either exhausted or having a migraine when I wake up. I stayed home Monday due to the migraine. This morning I woke up at 6 feeling awake with mild pain. I was hoping that it was sinus-related and that the sudafed would kill the pain, but that hasn't happened. But I got to work on time and have a doc appointment at 11. I'll likely head home after that and call the afternoon off.
All in all, though, I'm not feeling nearly so desperate as I did last week and before my last neuro psych appt. Outside of the pain and fatigue, I'm doing well. I'm trying to focus on these other things and see the bright spots. I have also started a new devotional series in my Bible reading and that is also helping.

Hi, honey. Be careful coming off the gabapentin. I threw up for 3 weeks over that when I was trying to get off. I mean, I am in favor of you getting off. Just know that it can be a bit of a bugger. Glad your Bible reading is helping. Love you.

I\'m glad you\'re taking extensive precautions against the heat. That is an energy-sapper, and extreme heat kills more people every year than extreme cold. If you need to cool down, ice in a small towel around your neck is a beautiful thing.

I\'m sorry to hear you have to deal with migraines. I don\'t have any personal experience with them, but I enough people I am close to have them, and I know how terrible they can be. I don\'t know how you function at all with them. I\'m glad you found a new devotional that is helping you - I am using a devotional on experiencing God\'s presence that is short and yet \"deep\" at the same time. I like that I can use it even on days that I have brain fog.

Thanks, tri! That\'s a good warning. I have been nauseated quite a bit, so that\'s probably where it came from.

Jack--I\'ll try that ice towel trick. I can probably pull that off in the office even, which is where I have a lot of issues.

MB- It\'s not easy to function, but thankfully my migraines come in \"grades\" if you will. There\'s \"functional\" which means I just want to kill every creator of noise around me but I can move and somewhat think. Then there\'s non-functional--I just want to scream but refuse to \'cause it would make things worse. Most of the recent ones have been functional, only two non-functional. Thanks for your thoughts! I\'m glad you found a devotional that works for you on heavy fog days. It makes a huge difference!
