hot air balloon

A few weekends ago, a hot air balloon hovered over our fields. It was the second one I’ve seen since being here. It would be fun to ride in one someday. Things are going well. I see how in the self supporting of my own ventures forward, I’ve chosen iconic objectified stylings to affirm my assertions in the case of attack or disapproval or just plain being exact enough with my expression and then to receive understanding. To be bullet proof I suppose or at least validated. Safe to a degree. It has me now knowing that I need to keep at my own activities, can’t look for approval to find my place in the world.. I suppose though there is the thought to live my values. Christianity here at the monastery keeps you on a slippery slope of almost being accepted or then fumbling at seeking it out. I’ve got to be strong enough to go my own way and use my sense of judgment and understanding to keep motivated. I left a message for my doc about it, I wish you could listen to the message. I’m excited about my life. I may not have the jubilant energy I once had. But I have ambition to seek new adventures and things. I see how some deal with their interests, here at the monastery, with Christianity and then buttress their commitment or vulnerability in life by being so adamant with it. It’s a self propelling wheel of affirmation. Rather than deal with plurality- as in - use the self affirmation of ‘it’s my way or the highway’ and so a truncated version of life experience. That’s harsh. Maybe it’s that way for some but for others it’s a filter for dealing with oneself and plurality and so perhaps Christianity adds strength to those who need it. I’ve needed it. Living ‘it’ here has really helped me find myself and my life. A crystallization of values underlying my pursuits and an understanding where I need to be strong and informing me for what I am asking for. What guides my actions as well. I am grateful that my walk with religion has taught me so much.

Thanks for letting me talk about my values as I figure out what’s right for me.

Looking back at it now, it’s so granular and crazy but I guess at the time I needed to go there. It’s helped me stay on the surface here at the monastery. Not to expect perfect but to just deal with weirdness and the good stuff and not become derailed by it…and do a good job all the while.

Maybe also being here at the monastery I’m learning what relationships are rather than ‘what they’re ‘supposed to be.’ The proximity of living together is forcing me to grow. In a weird way I think we may try to make art out of our lives when plainly it’s for me the taking care of life and each other which is the basic and simple reality for me in terms of who each other is and how we are in the world.
There’s love and respect and regard that sometimes is clouded by this condition as if I am connected to my fantasy (even as I write) rather than the person, like when I talk to my Doctor, as person who is also a doctor. Like the monastics here who are people who in their walk with Christ have aspects of life that they focus on within the religious dialogue.

Sorry guys, I have a disorder. I can’t apply logic all the time though try.
I think I take this whole living in understanding like to a cartoon aesthetic and too far indeed. I realize it’s kind of my nature because of my nerves but better to just live accept and deal with my feelings - rather than spin.

Geronta 'the elder' is such a jerk - the way he judges and treats people.
Also the queenie priest bites people in the ass a lot too treats with callousness in front of everyone - but then
is nice when he's not on stage - it's like that with the elder too - so
I wonder at what point do you accept some of this - as just human nature -
Right now I am feeling like I can't wait to go! (I go on a trip today! and the elder is back staying here now)
I know I've talked about it before in different ways.

It'll happen wherever I go - perhaps another instance of thinking in terms of 'averages' about life - though it feels like
they both zap and slice you into their judgement world - and I now need to deal with the aftermath
and find my life again.

I highly recommend a hot air balloon ride. I went on one once and it was the most fun I have ever had. What a treat to rise off the ground slowly and waving to the people on the ground. The birds flying eye lever with us wondering why we didn't have wings and people in buildings waving to us as as we passed by their homes. There were people in kayaks racing down a river and they all stopped to wave to us. It lasted about an hour and 10 minutes. The pilot took us very high at one point and then he gradually took us down as we neared the end of our journey. We were going to touch down in a narrow parking lot which was surrounded by trees and we got suck in some of the trees so the pilot had all 10 of us grab the tree tops and pull the basket closer to the parking lot. The wind shifted and we made it down on the ground. Then he opened a bottle of champaign and everyone celebrated a successful journey! I loved it so much that I want to go again. They have a balloon festival in Lewiston Maine once a year. I have to check but I think all the balloons are sold out this year. If not I think I will buy two.. I highly recommend it....It's a religious experience.....hugs
