holding onto a dream
I was noticing something last night that I noticed this morning. I started to dream again of
wanting things in my life and yet was wisened to the process, the maturity of being self responsible
as well. So often living our dreams can leave us so sensitive and in the path of outside forces
that can derail us...but it's the challenge of life to 'have a dream', and hold fast to it in the process
of trying to create it. I think we all have secret dreams of the way we would like our life to be, for it to unfold
and be as we wish...but perhaps we need to see that in the process we come into contrast with each other
and bounce around (in a way) that off puts us and may make us stray from our dream.
My therapist even spoke of how we might live in a time of our lives where we don't want to lead the
way anymore but instead are willing to follow and help the leader in creating a life for ourselves.
I hope as the new year approaches we all find our dream, our version of it and achieve what we want!

it's curious but I have been thinking about the 'arc of my life' as not being the typical one...
living alone, middle aged with boy blue - and I have wondered about writing for those who live like me...
what are the peculiar things to this kind of life that make sense - but then I thought of any life that there
are stages to life - married or unmarried - kids or no kids - qualities of our intimate lives and public lives.
I just watched a news segment about a woman who wrote about the "Passages" of life for any woman (though i am a man) in life
and her curiousity was about - what are the stages and the next stages and the next...so on. I like the idea
of finding that stuff out for myself and it also gives a kind of commnality to knowing how it goes - what to expect
or what is common in what we endure. Sending peace.!
I believe each and every one of us has more than one kindred spirit in the world whose "Arcs of Life" (AOLs?) are identical to ours, but even when I encounter one of my kindred spirits, my feet remain on my designated arc and I am guaranteed to trip if I am watching my kindred spirit's arc more than my own.
I'm recklessly stubborn enough to have willed more than one of my dreams to reality and learned to be careful what I wish for. There is much truth to the cliche of success being getting what you want and happiness being wanting what you get. These days I go for the happiness. The trauma of getting what I didn't curb my dreaming compulsion much though. I still love dreaming and putting together the logistics of making a dream come true. These days I am testing the theory that I should let the dream motivate but let reality dictate. I'll let you know when/if I figure out WTF THAT means.
Thanks Arfie!! Peace and Namaste
For me, dreaming is 'fun'. I know once I stopped 'wishing' and started to enjoy the adventure for what it is, I had an easier time of sleep.
I have had anxiety sleep and that was really interesting to work out. I did learn some techniques that I use to relax prior to resting.
Here's to finding what works for you!
thanks Mid!
I have only "One Dream" :) I want to drive a Porche 911 before I die!! Funny, I don't really have 'dreams' I have some wants, if they are attainable, I'll save money...guess I have goals rather than dreams. As for aging and passages of life...well I guess you could say my life has been fairly normal, except at 30 I went psychotic/manic when my sister died...from that point on, I didn't drink or party as I had in my 20's. My 30's were just working and adjusting...a real change came when my Mom died when I was 40, sold my birth home, and then found myself pregnant at '42"! Now That Was A Life Changing Moment that has lasted now for nearly 25 years! At 67, thoughts of marriage, I never married, are dim, I feel a calm that I didn't in my earlier years, while adjusting to the fact that I have more years left behind than going forward. I do notice that as I age, time goes by faster and because I'm retired, some times I loose days! Yikes!!
Thanks Mary Louise!!!
Big hug Marky..... I hope that dreams will come true as well as setting some goals in the new year Marky and I hope ML that you do get to drive that Porche.... You can pick me up and we'll go for a spin!!
It would be great if you met someone special Marky and I know that you have a lot to offer that special someone sweetie...
