hi!
i hope your Christmas was lovely.....that you were safe and warm and at peace.
my car had a flat on the way to dinner.......yikes! sam saved the day.....my hero!
it threw me off when it happened.......so i had a little bit of a cry.......but the day was far from ruined thanks to LOVE.....love from family! family is a real blessing!
the last few days i've been watching 007 movies....when i was a kid my brother Dan discovered Ian Fleming's novels about James Bond.......but beyond that I've never really watched them. i liked the Sean Connery ones the best, even the campy bits, ........skipped Roger Moore & Timothy Dalton & went right to Pierce Brosnan......it's good to shake things up, seems to help ease the mental restlessness of being cooped up.
here's an odd bit to share.......in the last Sean Connery Bond Film Jimmy Dean played a part.....Jimmy Dean is the sausage guy and he was an entertainer as well back in the day. musical......a singer..........years later my son sam did some modeling and commercial work. he auditioned for a Jimmy Dean commercial.......Mr. Dean said that Sam looked too much like him as a kid and he didn't think that would work (i don't follow the logic but ok....) they went with a red headed freckle faced kid instead.....random story but true. sam got to try lots of interesting things.......he got as many jobs as not when he was modeling.....you can't think rejection it's just a particular look someone has in mind, ya can't get kooky about it at all.......
i watched the documentary on Pamela Travers, the author of the Mary Poppins novels.....it was interesting.
finally able to get my tire fixed on Wednesday.......or was it Thursday? not sure, either way Walmart took care of me.....they got me out of there in about a half hour....but oh my goodness did i tell you? i just made it to walmart, when i got out of the car my spare donut was FLATTTTTTTTT.........made me feel like Eeyore under that little dark cloud.......
at somepoint i'll have to get a new spare donut, but it didn't work out while i was out that day, i tried, but it didn't happen. big sigh.....a bit of a cry and back home.
here it is.......that giant wave of tired.......i read all my Christmas Cards again before i sat down here to write.......made me smile and tear up........thank God for so many blessings! praying for your challenges, for the illnesses you are dealing with, for how hard it is to have to be so sick and so patient at the same time, it's not easy.........but somehow you are doing it and i admire all you do in care of your sweet special wonderful self.
after Christmas day, i wiped out hard. slept like a hibernating bear.........the surprise Christmas gift for this momma is to go to dinner with the kids. then head on to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens to see their Garden of Lights! the plan is to go either Jan 4th or Jan 7th......depending on my energy levels next week.
love to all and to all a big hug!

Ruthie, hope your Christmas was good inspite of the tire trouble. Interesting story about Sam & Jimmy Dean. Being from the south I am very familiar with him. In addition to being the sausage guy & a singer he also had a recurring role in the Daniel Boone TV show from the 1960's where Fess Parker played the role of Daniel Boone.
What was Sam's favorite modeling or commercial job?
Stay warm as it is going to be cold in our part of the world next week. This hibernating bear will be hibernating for sure.
Sounds like fun having a 007 marathon. I'm so sorry about the flat. I cried the last time I had one too. It's like you can't handle the everyday kind of crap because we already have so much other crap going on. I"m glad Sam came to the rescue. Well, back to working on Journey's science fair project. Much love.
Our Christmas was OK. My son had a stomach bug and couldn't eat much. My daughter and grandchildren didn't eat much because they had a late xmas breakfast at another inlaws house and were still full..plus late. It was a bit splayed out. My pregnant daughter inlaw made up for the eating. My grandson was over tired due to being woken up for the breakfast so I tried to look after him for my daughter so she could socialize with the family. We were cool with all the aircons going. Like a sauna room outside..
Wasn't such a great day, but that's ok.
I didn't get any cards sent this year...feel a little guilty. Have to go..interruption...back soon. Hugs
Hi Ruthie,
Hope your continuing holiday period is going better for you. EGAD, what a lot of awful stuff going on for you, on top of the typical stressors during this period.
I like 007, by Sean Connery, too. Pierce Brosnan isn't too bad and Daniel what's his name does an OK job. I heard online that they were considering Idris Elba to play in coming films. Daniel what's his name is playing in the next film. I hope they get Elba before he gets too old to play 007.
I have been so sick, I can't do a thing. I came over to see my sister for a few days, driven by a friend, no windy roads, so I should've been OK after the drive (about a 2 hour drive or so. I have been in bed and sleeping since I got here. Ridiculous. I think my sister does realize exactly how sick I really am at this point.
In my most recent blood work, the liver results weren't good. Doctor has ordered further testing, I'm set for 1/16. I actually might have cirhosis, for crying out loud. I used to drink some, many many years ago, so I don't think that is a factor, but with all the meds I take, who knows. I did some research online and you can get it without having misbehaved in any way. Children can actually get it. I have too many diseases to keep track of. My body doesn't belong to me anymore. So sad to be losing so much of my life. Sorry I"m so negative here. I can't help it. Best to you, Girlfriend.
