hey honey honey........how are you?????

man, i'm sweating like a mad hen at a fire sale........somebody throw a bucket a water on ME!
spend a day or two in bed and then try to reclimb the activity level of a human mountain range.  it is hard.  gonna rename CFS, KFC, no not after the famous chicken place in america......after that southern vine called kudzu....kudzu chronic fatigue syndrome.
and now is when i realize that KFC fried chicken style aka the acronym is not the same as kudzu chronic fatigue syndrome.  my clever button is stalled out........the brain fog button is stuck.  it's ok little darlin'.......don't you worry none!
i saw a spider web on my iron earlier......it whispered to me, "we used to have a great relationship......steamy in fact.........hot hot hot!  never realized that the iron that i put into early retirement is a bit of a perv......
creepy........and sorta funny.  nobody likes to be out of a job. not even a pervy ol' outta work iron...
don't miss ironing at all.  zero missing of all that time spent putting cotton in creases and non wrinkly crispness.....but i did like the way it felt when i put in on.  funny the things you remember.....
i have had an amazing amount of good days of late, despite getting bronchitis.  i took a round of z-pack antibiotics and completely lost my voice.  kept working in the yard some almost every day save two days last week when i just couldn't get out of bed.  there will always be ups and downs with this disease.
today i caught the two episodes of Golden Girls where Dorothy has struggled with ear aches, swollen glands, exhaustion, and other generalized flu like symptons like fevers, sweats, pain in joints & muscles........she tried to find out what was going on with her.  what was wrong.......she saw several doctors which led her to the docs who don't know what is going on, but in the midst of extraordinary arrogance blame the patient.......tell her everything from you're fine, change your hair color to "it's functional, which is doctor code for "it's all in your head, you are mental....."
she finally gets a correct diagnoses from a doctor.........and then not long after runs into the snootiest arrogant doc of the lot and she gets to tell him off......he cuts her off, but his wife tells him to shut up......and Dorothy said all the right things to make me cheer.........
makes me wonder, did she have CFS, or someone close to her?  seems like there must have been something to warrant two episodes about this illness back in the 80's.........and i am so glad she did.  wish they had gone on to show more about the actual way it impacted her, as in time in bed more, and other bits and pieces about the ongoing symptoms.....etc.
but they did more than most.......most do nothing.
i have done some tidying of Sparrow Cottage, have made fresh strawberry pies........and have two quiches in the oven.  i want to drive one of each to Sam today.......so he can have at least one meal he doesn't have to cook this week.  it was a hard push to do this........feel like running outside in the sprinkler...........I'm MELTING>>>>>>>>>>>>>
my glands are swollen & i'm achy but don't count me out, i'm still here........wishing you could see all the baby lrises coming up .......coming into their own.  the roses are in full bloom, the irises ive had longer are also blooming........deep red blooms, rich dark purple, the soft yellows, the buds on the peony should bust loose any day now, the blue moon phlox are blooming too!.......the kitties say hello, they are driving me mad........and i try to drive them mad right back.
your pal in the south,
sparrow

Listen there, wonky birdie! HI! The golden girls did an episode where Dorothy was actually diagnosed with CFS! Oh YES! I\'ve seen it three times. The doctor gives her all the usual BS about \" it\'s all in your head \" and she fights with him. It\'s a very good show, and very pro CFS as an ignored, invisible disease that is debilitating. See if you can find the episode somehow. I\'ll bet Sam could help you with that. I know nothing about this stuff....but you\'d love the way she snaps at the doctor when he tells her she needs a nap!! Good show! Hope you can catch it!

Glad you are feeling better and having some up days. Don\'t talk about it anybody but us. You know what happens when we say outloud that we are feeling better, right? OK! xo : )

I can smell your strawberry pies. It\'s wonderful that you enjoy the kitchen. I\'m allergic to that room. Never seemed to get over it either. I don\'t think that\'s a terminal allergy...I hope not. So far, so good!

Big Norther hugs to my Southern buddy! xo

It\'s good to see an update, Ruthie. My mind goes to 2 places when people are MIA from journal writing - they are in bed too sick to even log on to their computer or they are feeling well enough to interact with the real world for a while. I guess there is a 3rd possibility - they are like me and just don\'t journal regularly. LOL. Anyway, I\'m glad that in spite of your bronchitis you were able to do some yard work and baking - it lifts the spirit to putter. I haven\'t seen the episodes of Golden Girls that you and Darla are referring to, but they sound great! I remember reading in the 80s that their was a mysterious illness that they were calling the Yuppie Flu. It was CFS. I think someone involved with Golden Girls must have known someone who was getting the brush off from doctors. Very cool that they had a chance to have Dorothy talk back to the arrogant medical people!

I\'m glad to hear you have had a lot of good days lately. woohoo! My grandmother was told \"it\'s all in your mind\" for years and I remember growing up, that everyone in her family rolled their eyes when she would cancel plans b/c she felt awful. Then, at age 35, I started having all the same problems she had, walking as a criple like she did and everyone took notice when I got my dx. At least I could validate her the week before she died. Hopefully someone read my letter to her, as we lived in different states. I\'m just glad we live when we do... but then.... in 50 years, maybe they\'ll have a cure and I\'ll eat my words in heaven LOL. And by the way, don\'t feel the least bit guilty about not ironing... I dont\' want to waste too much of my life cleaning or ironing, so that is a darn good excuse! xoxo
