Got your message.....have been out and about this morning; had to do a bit of walking and that took a lot out of me. Sucking up some oxygen ( and a cup of tea) at the moment. I was diagnosed at Christmas (nice gift) and was back in hospital at Easter. Had some tests done last week and go to the specialist on Monday. Who knows what he will tell me. Don't give an inch though  and keep punching!!!!!Oxfordns

Hi again, I hope you had a great weekend at your reunion. I\'d like to hear
about it. My weekend was busy. I painted some doors on Friday and was
completely wiped out, even with oxygen. I couldn\'t do anything except to watch tv and go to bed. Saturday I continued to be too tired to do anything.
Saturday we went to our daughter\'s house to dog sit while she went to
a high school reunion. I couldn\'t sleep in our bedroom - the dogs were
breathing too hard and our dog, a 65 lb. Bernese Mt. Dog, shook the bed with her heavy breathing. So I went downstairs and slept on the couch. That was at 12:30am and never went to sleep until after the dogs were sent outside at around 2:48am. At 4:30 our daughter\'s dog put his head on my should and breathed in my face - he needed to go outside. He was also thirsty and drank a bunch of water. Again, at 6:30am he needed to go again -also my dog. I didn\'t get much sleep but didn\'t feel too bad. Sunday evening we had our neighbors and my recently divorved son come to our house for a picnic. Each brought food. The new neighbor across the street also recently divorced and the same age of our son was invited so my son could become acquainted with her. Who knows? Today I painted some doors and part of the ceiling that had a watermark on it. I painted a total of 2 hours, I got whoozy in the head and came home for a 3 hr. break and then went back to finish what I started. Normally, I could have finished about 6 or 7 doors and frames but today I could only do 2. I hate this disease!!!! Our friends are great about my affliction and constantly tell me to take my time. I haven\'t learned to do that yet. I guess it is going to be a long learning process. Tomorrow I play tennis, with oxygen and am looking forward to that. It still hurts being unable to breathe and having to stop to get my breath. Hope this is not to boring - I\'d rather tell you about these things than write in my journal. I\'m glad to hear you are communicating with other people on our support group. It seems like everyone with our disease has a different understanding of it and need our support. Looking forward to your reply. Keep up the good fight!

I remain amazed at how well you manage...painting, playing tennis.....all take a lot of exertion and thats what knocks me down.
We attended the high school reunion..Friday night several hundred people in a NON air condtioned high school gym was NOT the place to be so we left after an hour and a half. Subsequently did not connect with numerous people from my past who apparently were in attendance (some asked about me I hear but I didn\'t see them). One girl I went to high school with and have not seen the better part of 50 years looks a great now as she did in 1960... obviously older but even my wife, who never laid eyes on her before, remarked as to how great she looked...( Of course, I hadn\'t noticed)!!
So, leaving early, we missed a lot of poeple plus the fireworks after the gathering. We just picked up some food and went back (along with my portable oxygen, which I had left in the van) adnw ent back to the cabin we had rented. On Saturday there were such things as a breakfast at the Legion, a pork chop barbecue, a musical open mic event and an evening dance. We took in a bit of the music before leaving early to meet my wife\'s sister and brother in law for supper at a local restaurant...then we all went back to the cabin for a couple hours before the inlaws returned to their home. On Sunday morning we attended a closing church service at the high school, then made our way home. All in all it was fun but sorry I missed meeting so many old friends. First thing that happened when we entered the gymn on Friday evening was that we spotted a couple of friends, one of whom brought over a guy and asked me if I knew who it was. Lo and behold it was a childhoopd friend I had not seen for about 50 years (since he joined the air force etc etc). Had a nice chat....he is living in a part of the world not all that far away and we have mutual friends (strange as that sounds, since not from the past).
In any event..I have rambled enough......keep on keeping on......you are an inspiration to me. Truly, I don\'t know whow you manage so well........
and , yes, it IS a miserable disease!!!!!!
cheers

Thought I\'d try to revise our journal responses - I enjoy them so much. Since I have be \"out\" for a while I reread your journal. Earlier you mentioned that your son was going to visit from China. Did that ever happen and how was the visit? I hope you had a good visit. As I read your responses to other people\'s questions I am impressed with your concern for them and your sincerity in your responses. I suspect you have been a kind and caring person throughout your life and I am glad to be your friend.
I believe that people who lead good lives are ok within themselves and are able to support other people like you have. Keep it up because the people in our group need compassionate and caring \"friends\" to keep going.
On behalf of the others I thank you for your kind and caring comments.
Keep up the good support

Good Saturday evening Sawdusty..good to hear from you againl. I\'ve been watching a bit of TV and dozing off...now checking how my beloved Dodgers are doing.(hope they can win tonight and wrap up first place). My son and grand son were home for the month of August but he rented a car and he took his youngster (nine years old), on quite a few small trips. He is a much better father than I was, I think!! All in all we had a good time...the youngster also attended a hockey camp for quite a few of the days (he likes hockey and plays in China)!!
I really AM concerned with the well being of our mutual friends as well as others....hate to see others suffering. I have seen a lot of it up close (my wife is a breast cancer survivor but that dread disease has claimed most of her familty....mother sister, brother, father, uncle, aunt......Another of her sisters died in a horse riding accident when she was only 17; yes, we have seen our share, but I guess we all have really....I have often wished I had considerable wealth (like a damn fool I buy the occasional lottery ticket, since thats the only way i ever MIGHT have some money)...because I think of the good I could do to help others...family , friends and strangers in need.
A pipe dream. but how nice it would be.......
I enjoyed your message today; I hope you are continuing to do well....still don\'t know how you can do so much (playing tennis etc)!!
One day at a time................take care of you and yours
