hello......xoxoxo

chili is simmering, it's the final 13 minutes......the fudge walnut brownies will cross the finish line at the same time. so ummm, the DS journal format is even weirder than usual.  it opens up in a shrunken size format, makes me think of tiny creepy heads hanging from a tall rod in the jungle, probably a nod to time spent in front of a black and white set watching Tarzan and the Pygmies.

that'll freak a kid out.....!  once again the laundry is drying, the typist is freshly showered......tomorrow will be here before you know it.  even though the brownies will not be needed amongst all the food brought in by family i can't seem to go without a contribution.  mom and manners......manners and mom.  hi mom, how's heaven, are you and daddy getting along in paradise?  curious to know how first and second marriage partners get along in heaven too......silly string thinking.

move it along jojobird......move it along.  the chili smells good, it's not real chili, it's easy peasy cheater chili.  i brown 1 lb of lean ground beef, add diced onion.....let that do it's thing, then add 1 can Ranch chili beans.  I love the sauce they put on the dadburned chili beans....yummmm.  Definitely a southwestern flavor, savory not spicy hot......than I add some spaghetti sauce and let it all simmer for awhile.  Store and chill until my tummy rumbles.....

I wanted to make either sweet potato souffle or corn casserole but since Rio wouldn't make a store run and I couldn't that never came together......Rio complains about not being tall enough to see over the wheel.  Excuses, Exshmoooses......cats!  Can't kick them out, can't get them to drive. What is this old world coming to?

Since we all agreed that riding around skyward in a balloon would wipe out our tribe we need to come up with goood virtual fun for all.  Would we enjoy a cruise on the high seas?  A week in Vegas seeing the big shows?  If we knew the machines were rigged in OUR FAVOR would that be an inducement to go?  the one armed bandit type machines.....would we indulge in a little al co hol ?  when is the last time i had anything al co hol like?  oh yeah, i had a sip of red wine which tasted like feet on my 60th birthday.  it was sooooo gross.  followed by a mint.  i am such a sophisticate....!

i need to lay out my clothes for tomorrow. this is the log cabin home just down the road from me, about five long minutes!  lol, if i have enough energy left i plan to go hear sara sing at the 5 pm church service over at hamilton mill.  that would round out the day well, plus i would get to hear a good message. hearing a message seems to add a rightness and lightness of being to my week.

not news to you....you know i'm addicted to my bed, held down by gigantic magnets.  they grip really well.....gotta admire anything done well.....or do you/we?  i miss that exterior lightness of being, knowing my body can.......i used to skate.  it was so much fun.....stretching my long legs, using my muscles as i would glide along gathering speed. once i was limber i would turn.......i loved to turn on the second corner.......feel my body easily turn and move to the music.  no stumbling, no second guessing, just sheer joy of movement........now i'm afraid to use a downward escalator.  i see my body tumbling to certain uh oh just thinking about it. i get weird scared feelings when i see anyone to close to a cliff in a MOVIE......to close to the edge of a mountain road, or two guys fighting in mid air off a tall NY skyscraper......landing on a lower rooftop.......i get actual muscle contractions watching......is that an old lady phobia of some sort?  or ok not old lady phobia, i remember what you said di, about us not BEING OLD!!!!  some sort of phobia that comes about from being indoors or indoors/ill/lowered energy and abilities thingy?  i don't know.  it's freaky!

i put the chili in the frig.....my ingredients may not make any five star michelin restaurant ever but it's an easy fairly low sodium quickie soup for one.  and it helps me use of the other half of the spaghetti sauce, currently i'm into Prego.  I was a ragu girl for years and finally ventured to another shelf........so silly really.  but the prego flavor i found is sweet, tastes fresh and rich......another yum win win.

took the brownies out, it looks like i didn't distribute the walnuts very evenly......on well.  then i slid in the easy bake oven chocolate peanut butter cookies.  making 24 cookies in about ten minutes........i haven't had this flavor before.  i really like the peanut butter and the sugar cookies so far.....and they aren't too expensive if you get the ones that make two dozen for $2.50.

at some point i need to drag out a glass platter.....and put everything on it in a pretty pattern.  i was thinking that i might sprinkle mini reeses pieces bits on the platter as a nod to fall......that could be cute!

the ladies liked the to go baggies of candy at the luncheon on Wednesday.  the cheesy rice broccoli casserole was cleaned out, but i had a ton of salad left.  couldn't believe it, six of us brought garden salads........whooops!  we all ahd salad fixings in our frigs at the same time huh!

my back is hollering now....time to check the cookies, cover the brownies......set the alarm, find a good movie for 8 pm.  picking an 8 pm movie seems to help me mentally, it breaks up the onslaught of binge watching episodes endlessly.......hope to find a good one.  i watched Grumpy Old Men followed by Grumpier Old Men the last time........really cute, lots of fun.......Jack Lemmon, Walther Matthau, Ann Margret, Sophia Loren......Burgess Meredith........so good!

night to all and to all a good night!

love you, sparrow

I hope you have a great time at the Thanksgiving gathering today, and I would be just like you - I NEED to bring something to contribute to the feast! Loved the Grumpy Old Men movies - silly fun with a couple of veteran comedic actors. My dachshunds use the same excuse as Rio - too short to drive.
