Health Anxiety - 9/12/18

So for the past two days, I've had this dull pain in the front of my neck.

Back up to about half a year ago, I went in to the doctor because I had been having problems with swallowing the mucus that usually drains down the back of the throat. Also, I would have this thing feel like it was getting "stuck" somehow when I would try to swallow. It only happened occasionally though.

The doc sent me to a specialist for an endoscopy, and my results came back that I have GERD. She put me on medication, and I'm supposed to be seeing her one year post-op to check up on how I'm doing.

As for the dull pain I've been feeling in the front of my neck: it eerily feels similar to the pain that I was only randomly getting before. Except now this pain has been very mild but constant since Monday. I have one swollen lymph node in my neck, and of course I have been freakkkking out because all of the information on the internet says that I probably have cancer.

Of course this makes since to my panicky mind full of anxiety.

Is it cancer?

Am I overreacting?

I am only 26, but I used to smoke cigarettes and weed (blunts) about every day for the duration of about 4 years. I have a hypothyroid which is corrected by my levothyroxine medication.

What the fuck is going on?

I am SO scared.

I am going to wait to go to the doctor because I do not have insurance yet. I also found one or two sites that say you should wait to see if the symptoms clear up on their own before you seek medical advice. After 10 or so days if my body has not taken care of this scary issue, I will go to the doctor.

Doc visit will be on September 24th, I have decided. That is, if my symptoms don't clear up. If they get worse, I may go to the doctor before that. Hopefully it doesn't get worse, and just goes away on its own. I PRAY IT DOES. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

However, I am freaking out in the meantime. I feel like I am going to die, and I feel so scared and anxious. I don't want my anxiety to make this worse!! But I really can't help feeling how I am feeling right now.

On top of this, I am feeling a huge wave of depression coming on. I feel so.... weird. I don't know how to explain this.

On a positive note, I got this app called Happify and it is starting to help me calm down. But I only have access to the free part of it, or else it costs quite a bit of money. Another positive is that I got out and played some tennis with my fiance (Bryan) today. And my dog (Lucy) came with and we took her swimming in the river.
