having a hard time...the yoke we choose
the other day I met my brother for a quick refreshment outside the nearby Erewhon market.
It was really good to see him. He introduced an idea to me when we were talking
about a relationship. He said "Mark you are living under 'his rule'...you need have him 'live under yours!'"
It was a perspective I really hadn't thought about before....and it percolated.
Forward to yesterday I thought about adopting another's yoke in the sense of all the choices I am
making for my future later this year and then I got in touch with a person who I am hoping to date..
and it just all seemed to mix together.... I wasn't thinking about it yet...but this morning afer I woke up
I felt completely pleasure oriented...and yet then I thought about which direction to go in..
I couldn't seem to beat my own drum...the idea of responsibility came to mind as well as
aligning myself with the living in life together partnership that would be about
taking on the responsibilities associated with living under or in relationship to
another's set of responsibilities. I thought about the yokes we choose to live
with in life. I have definitely got to get going with my day.
I hope this makes sense.

yes, marky poo, it makes sense. i love the imagery to "the yoke we choose." very apropos and clear imagery on my radar.
i find myself convinced that your brother's statement about living other people's rules is the same thread i've been shaking when i rattle your yoke about comparing yourself to others. can you really march to your own beat while you are obsessing over other people's beats?
just wondering in a not-mine-to-sort sort of way. . .
Thanks Arfie!!
I guess the nature of it is, as well, if you can march to the beat of your own drum and still survive.
A few times in my life I have wanted to break free of the confines of my life and start a fresh in a new city.
I think that also may be the quality of the bipolar/schizzoaffective stuff and I didn't know that's what I was dealing
with. It's a better perspective now for sure.
