Happy Thanksgiving
So...I will pick up my boy tomorrow!!! Not a traditional thanksgiving but certainly a happy one.
Sooo tired, bone tired...achy everywhere!!! I hope I did not pick up anything in the hospital because I certainly won't be going back to one any time soon once I get my honey tomorrow. I think hospitals are miserably useless unless it is a life or death situation...I can take strong antibiotics at home and recuperate in my own bed.
My house is a wreck...I hate to bring him home to a dirty house but I simply don't have it in me to clean...I just want to go to bed and sleep until I wake up in the morning and get ready to go back to Panama City...again. The La Quinta experiment just didn't work out. It was too stressful trying to get them hitched up and down the elevator to the outside potty area. About 6am this morning, I had them out in my ratty old pajamas trying to coax a good poop out of them. Apollo complied, excellant boy that he is. The Grand Diva chose to shit in the hallway on the way back to the room. 3 times. I hurriedly secured them in our room and tried to clean it up every time, but there is only so much you can do with tissue paper. I am expecting a bill for carpet cleaning.
I hope I am not going to catch any flak for my compulsive on-line shopping the past few days. That and over-eating...well, I had to have new clothes because my bodyhas swollen up like a Macy's Day balloon. I think, I hope, my husband will be understnding as the bills come in...after all this, I am not in the mood for any scolding at all. He asked me today to please not give him a hard time about all this because he feels he has been punished enough. I replied that I expected the same from him...as I have gotten through this, maybe not in the most healthy, productive ways, but I have gotten through it.
As far as the crisis, we are down to the short rows. But I am intensely aware we have things to work through. My husband's drinking, which he says is over...his anger management...his jealousy. I told him that if this has not proven to him how dedicated I am to him, I don't know what else I can do. He is feeling insecure, an I am going to give him time to get his strength, both physically and mentally back. He doesn't like me being away from him, and tended to think the worst...so for now, our solution is he will be my chauffer. Great for me, I hate to drive, and it will soothe his insecurities and jealousies. With therapy, we will get to the bottom of those feelings, and hopefully build up his confidence, and trust in me. In the mean time, I am fine with him driving me everywhere I need to go...as I said, I hate driving, will enjoy his company, and have nothing to hide.
Just wondering, is this a new thing??? Have there been other episodes of spouses overdosing on alcohol and prescription medications, or any other seemingly suicide attempts??? I know there have been marriages broken up...so sad.

I am so glad your hubby is ready to go home. Wishing you both a Happy Thanksgiving filled with love and peace. You have been through so much.
It is not uncommon for people to resort to self medication with alcohol and or drugs after a traumatic event and what could be more traumatic than the loss of a beloved child? We all respond in our own way. It sounds like his is alcohol therapy and yours is retail therapy. It took me a long time to realize that indeed my son-in-law used (and probably still does) resort to retail. I just got furious when he went shopping right after Lisa died. He bought a truck, the most expensive ski outfit and a motorcycle. My response was anger and an increase in wine consumption. I have discovered that the wine doesn't make anything better but I do enjoy it....
I am glad to hear that you will be going for counseling together. Relationships can be so difficult, especially after loss.
Sending love and positive energy. And don't worry about the housecleaning - you have more important stuff to deal with!
Tight hugs. M
This is a Thanksgiving that will take on a new meaning for both of you, I know. It feels as if there are many layers as there are with each of us. This is when the trained professionals will be vital to help both of you.
The one thing that I do know is that the loss of a child is a deal breaker for many couples. What was not going well is front row and center and the fissures can become huge cracks under the weight and pressure of it all. It also can be a time to come closer together than ever before, because who can understand any better one's heart than another who is going through the loss with you?
Wishing you all the best in these days and weeks ahead and trusting in the power of healing.
One breath, moment and day at a time dear Gina.
Loving care your way,
XO Joanie
Hi Gina, I am thrilled Steve is home with you on Thanksgiving. Sending love to you both as you go forward. Hugs, Linda ♡
Men do turn to drinking for the problems they seen to deal with or not deal with. My hubby turned to drinking when Mike was a teen and getting into trouble, we had a very very rocky time 3 months of shit. We worked through it thank goodness. When our daughter became a teen we worked together and when we lost Mike we pulled together once again it takes time and very hard work.
Hope you find what is needed.
Hugs Penny
