Happy Memorial Day!

Today was pretty uneventful. Geo is still sick, but getting better, so he slept most of the day. I was in bed most of the day, except when I took an almost 40-minute walk down the street a bit. It was nice... I got to walk under flowering trees and see birds. I live near a canal (like everyone in Miami) so I just walk by the canal and see all the pretty things that are there and ignore the trash. It's a city, it's going to have trash. I'm just glad we don't have a lot of crime and sirens going off all the time like there was when I lived in LA. It was nice... I saw today a young man walking eating a bag of popcorn, and he finished it and threw it away. I just don't see that a lot anywhere. People taking responsibility for themselves and cleaning up after themselves.
I am getting more tanned because of walking in the sun, and I think I need to start putting on more sunscreen. I have light skin that is at a greater risk for skin cancer (one of the perils of being a light-skinned half-Mexican) because I got a bad sunburn when I was a kid and some of the melanin cells in my neck died, and now I have white spots on my neck. When I get tanned, they show more, so I know to be careful by how dark the skin around the spots are. Plus, my doctor said I could be getting too much Vitamin D since when I take calcium my hips hurt. He said it could be a side effect of too much Vitamin D. I don't know, but I had to stop taking the calcium pills I had and now I have to take them without the Vitamin D in them.
I haven't talked about how today was for me. I really don't have anything to say. I didn't have any big mood swings, I woke up tired and didn't do much... I wasn't bored, though. I was just content most of the day. I met some people on Spark People and I have been talking to them, as well as my weight-loss buddies here from DS. I didn't weigh myself today, since I weigh on Sunday and Wednesday. I missed that the mail didn't come today, since I am expecting a new phone (from Assurance Wireless) to come in the mail soon. I really feel like I am retired- the best part of my day is when the mail comes, or when I get to go out. I just don't have a car and have no money, so I can't go anywhere or do anything. I'm a homebody for the most part, although I do have a podiatry appointment tomorrow. I will look up when I have to wake up for that when I'm done with my journal here.
Sleep/Stress/Mood/Food- Slept good, got 12 hours, no nap. Not stressed, just pretty content most of the day. Food- I had a peanut butter sandwich for breakfast, some beans and rice for lunch and some chicken soup for dinner. I made chicken soup for both Geo and I, since he is sick. I have too much chicken, though... I don't know what I'm going to do with all the leftover chicken. It will get eaten, I'm sure of that. I guess that's all I have to worry about.

Sounds like you had a good day. Uneventful in a good way, you exercised and ate well, what more can we ask in a day, right?

Thanks for the good perspective- I went out and did something good, not something bad, and ate well. :)
