Happy Birthday Lisa

Today, Lisa would be 43 years old.  I woke up thinking about the day she was born.  I had a planned C-section.  I was annoyed with the doctor because he booked another lady and I backwards.  I was to have Lisa on a Tuesday and the other lady to be on Thursday.  Instead, I got Thursday.  I was annoyed and said that since he made the mistake, I would be going home in 5 days (hospital stays were much longer then).  Mom and Joe's mom were due to come and help out with Andrew. The other lady was annoyed because she wanted to stay in the hospital longer.  She had 3 kids at home and wanted a rest!  We both went home on the same day.  I followed the doctor around on his rounds on day 5 - he took his time but finally discharged me and the other lady: me on day 5, her on day 7.
Lisa was a wonderful baby.  Happy and slept well.  Even when she was awake in the night, she didn't fuss.  One night she wouldn't go back to sleep.  We put her in her infant seat by the bed and fell asleep listening to her cooing.
It was wonderful having two grandmas to help.  Mum and Amy took turns getting up in the night so i got a good rest.  I learned after Andrew was born that I was not supermom so welcomed the help.  It also gave me time to spend with Andrew.  He was a perfect big brother until they hit their teens.  For a few years they hated one another.  As adults, they were the best of friends.
So many memories.
I had a wonderful day today all things considered.  We are in Vancouver and spent the day with Merrilee (Jason's mom).  What a wonderful lady.  We shared our children with one another.  We cried and laughed and learned that our kids had a lot in common.  We ate wonderful fish and chips by the sea. And Lisa came to visit.  She often shows up as birds, usually very noisy ones.  But today she sang to us.  It was just wonderful.  I am trying to convince Merrilee to come to the retreat.
Joe and I watched the sun go down this evening, and I cried some more.  I just miss her soooo much.
Lisa: Happy Birthday.  Thanks for coming and entertaining.  I miss you always and love you forever. Mummy

How wonderful it is to read about Lisa as a baby. Such warm comforting memories.

So great that you met Merrilee. She and you are two of my very favorite people to correspond with. I\'m still on the fence about going to the retreat but definitely leaning towards going right now.

Happy Birthday Lisa. Your Mom dearly loves and misses you..

Such a sweet story about when Lisa was born.
I love how you followed the Dr around while he was going rounds, to get him to release you. I can just picture that now. :)

It\'s always a special time meeting one of our moms. So wonderful you & Merrilee got to spend some time together. I hope she is able to come to the retreat.

Happy Birthday Lisa. Loved reading your memories of her being born. Lots of times I hear of women having babies in the morning and going home by evening or the next day. I hope you can talk Merrilee into coming to the retreat. I\'m thinking more and more I will... I\'d love to meet her. She\'d be lucky too because she\'d be with you which would help I\'m sure of meeting a bunch of new people.

What a lovely narrative of Lisa\'s birth and how you were feeling too.
It is always such a JOY to be in the company of the moms as it\'s the one time that ALL masks are off and for the duration of the time shared. I truly believe that is what I felt at my first retreat in Asheville. I could just BE and everyone saw me as Joanie and I will always remember that \"look\" that I knew I had I saw in the eyes of the other moms too and truly had a knowing that I was not alone.
Wouldn\'t it be lovely to have Merrilee come. We each seem to make our way there at the perfect time. A little nudge never hurts. :)

I awaken to noisy birds and we have a mockingbird who sings all day long and I often think of your Lisa.

Loving care dearest Marlene and how is Joe feeling these days?
