Happy 50th to my parents!
Today my parents celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. We were the first 'Brady Bunch', my Dad had 3 teenage boys, Russ, Charles and Mark and my mom had, Allen 5, me 4, Cheryl 3 and Paul 2 and a year later they had Frank. As happy as I am for them, I'm SO GLAD my Mom cancelled the party next weekend. I'm learning to forgive them, but was not ready to be with the entire family.
Long story, but you may remember, I have had no family support, none of them came to my sons memorial service, none want to come to my apt, because they are afraid I have his ashes here. When they found out Greg died from an overdose, they all mostly said, "why are you surprised", you new he was on drugs."
Like I said, just glad the party is not going to happen. Still taking baby steps, also in trying to forgive how ignorant they are. Life is to short and I'm praying they will come around, but also decided not to be bitter nor worry any more how they feel.
Because I will always LOVE my son and I love myself too.
Have a wonderful day, ladies, I am off for a followup interview with a job I really hope to get.

How sad I have faced this too, but good on you girl, he was and IS YOUR BOY your precious son, a mothers love is unconditional , how gracious you are , forgiveness is a huge part of moving forward, I\'m not sure i would want to forgive those that didn\'t have the heart to come to my own child\'s memorial . Bless your heart I care and will be thinking of you, gentle hugs and love from one mum to another. Lets raise a glass and a smile and shout out proudly greg\'s name. X Mags
It seems that family can be the ones who hurt us most, by not being supportive.
It has happened with my family too. Coming here to FMO where we will receive loving support is something we can count on. I am so proud of you for not letting them keep you down over this. Keep taking those baby steps in the direction where you will receive support & healing.
Ps. Hope your job interview goes well. :)
Hugs....Vicki
You really have the right spirit regarding your family. You don\'t need their negative attitudes. Mourning is hard enough. Greg was a person, he lived! He made mistakes but I want you to know, you love him, I love him and I imagine other mothers here have \"adopted him\" too.
Wishing you the best on your job interview!
Leda
Thank you everyone, for understanding and being here for me.
ha.. family understand...not mine,,,never did and never will.... maybe your family will get smarter,,, I know mine wont!!!! love to you ... and we have each other and all the other soths here...!
First of all, hopeful that the interview went well. :) Grateful too that you are learning how to deal with your parents. Oh, what a slippery slope it can be and as you said what matters the most is how you feel about yourself and your Greg.
Support should be such an \"easy\" thing to offer, yet it is not for many. Thank goodness we have one another here and we do come to love one another\'s children so they have many \"aunties.\" :)
Loving care to you today and in the ones ahead and all paws crossed for good news about this job that you would like. :)
XO Joanie
Families don\'t get it no matter how our children have let this earth. We have to carry on with our babies in our hearts till we see them again. Sending you vibes of healing. Kathy
Wow, 50 years...Congratulations to your parents. We are a \"Brady Bunch\" family as well. Mom had 4 girls and a boy. Step-dad had 4 girls and a boy. They had 2 girls together, then adopted my niece, making us a family of 11 girls and 2 boys! The grand and great grands have made up for the lack of boys in the family. I have never felt any shame from my family about the manner of my son\'s death (heroin overdose) with the exception of my mom once asking me if I told people the truth of how he died. I didn\'t even understand why she was asking me that....Why would I lie? I am not ashamed of my son. He accidentally overdosed! Fingers crossed that you got the job! Peace.
