Happy 4th of July!

 

Hello Honey Dears......just made the burger patties for later, the potatoes and hard boiled eggs are cooling......they will become potago salad later.....yes potago.....eggs should get some credit too!!! coulda been eggtato salad, but potago feels more fun to say so far......

 

i have a tiny watermelon for dessert.......and fresh corn on the cob to be shucked......no one thus far to share it with, but the day is young!  not worried about it however it turns out.....i asked deb if she wanted to do something either today or saturday and shared two events in Braselton with her.....today the town of Braselton begins their festivities at 5 pm with live music, street vendors, a parade throughout main street at 6 pm......i love seeing little kids riding their decked out tricycles and bicycles in small town parades, i hope they include the little ones.......and of course there must be a Miss Lady Braselton riding in a convertible......!!!! 

 

the fireworks begin around 9:30.......so this is a fun option to ponder.

 

on saturday they are holding Encore 4th Fest.......this event begins at noon and goes on until 10 pm.......a whole listing of bands that will play patriotic tributes to our great nation all day long.  the usual rub it on your hips street food, a plethora of vendors.....so that's a week-end option ......also told her about Braselton's Farmer's Market......Friday from 4 - 7 pm..........it's like i've been asleep and fuddled for so long and now i can think better......as if my mind has been refreshed somehow.  pray for this continued blessing.

 

so ummmm, hmmmm, what else?  so far today i've puttered with my plants, made the bed, put on work clothes......and keep putting off that one chore i don't want to do........put black mulch around the mail box.  first to pull the weeds, then add the mulch......when the guys were here doing the mulch work i TOTALLY FORGOT to ask them to dress up the mail box......a white pole with a black mailbox.....black numbers (it goes with the white house and the black shutters.....is it allowed to paint a mailbox red?  hmmmm, that could be really jazzy......let me mull that over.

 

i got the bag of mulch at wal-mart, it was $3.33.....odd price point.  the bag has several holes in it which are leaking mulch into the geez's trunk......poor ol geezermobile...i'm forever telling it to be brave, that it can be a truck if it wants to.......to have courage and then i drag the doggonest things home with me......

 

i put the old piano bench out as a giveaway........it held an REM concert ticket in it from 1997........what the new mystery owner doesn't know is that it was once owned by the piano player for REM........asked Sam to take it a hunnerd million times and in 17 years he never has, so now it's off to become something ......to benefit someone.  things like people need purpose.  silly and yet not so silly.....

 

hello momma bird, she is singing up a storm......i'm listening to celtic music.......soul soothing.  Stella came yesterday......while she was here she asked could she watch the soccer game......it was the world championship and her country Columbia was playing a match against England.  it was a very close match.....the score was tied, in the end each side had five kicks at the soccer goal to see who would win......a real nail biter.......England won and Columbians wept.  she was very proud of her team as she should be!!!! 

 

later she said my home was a pretty little dollhouse......ahhhhhhh!  so sweet......cottage rooms are on the small side so my things are sized accordingly especially in the kitchen.......an old english pub table......a ladies secretary with cubbies......things that feel right for a puttery old lady.......laughing at myself, feel full to the brim with whimsy.  my body is really achy, i napped for about an hour.......i am stiff but feel the pull to deal with the mulch by the mailbox.......the little devil on my shoulder says take the day off........relax, don't worry about it.......chill........who cares really....other than you that is!!!!!  and yet deep in my muscles i know i'm going to the bottom of the drive way to take care of business. 

 

oh and stella has invited me to come over to her home next Wednesday at 5 pm for treats & dominoes.......not sure who all will be there, but she shared that she regularly has her customers over to hang out.......so this will be my first time to hang........so excited!

 

still no word from Sara.......she returned my call last week, she said she was getting very excited about the new furniture project i did for her......and no word since......left her a few messages......just gotta be patient with her, but it's hard to do sometimes.....i had the guys put the finished project the two rockers and loveseat now resplendent in white and navy) in front of one of the oak trees.....it looks really good there!  i told them i wanted her to be scared that i might be stealing it back.........but i'm a momma of my word!  i just don't understand why she hasn't called.......sigh.  it's a momma's right to worry i suppose.........spoke to Sam, he's going to a BBQ with his Dart Team Buddies.........awesome!

 

just realized the dandelions are tall again.......time to call Bruce!

 

i may surprise the heck outta myself and go swimming at the lake........that could be literally COOOOOOOOOOL.  i wish you were here to share my evening feast......hugs and happy treats for everyone!
