Halloween/ Dia De Los Muertos

Geo and I were watching The Conjuring last night so I didn't have time to do my journal. We had a great day... got some good sleep and then we went out to dinner for Geo's birthday. We got home and watched the movie with all the lights out. We didn't get any trick or treaters coming. We didn't have candy, anyway. But we had a good night.
I'm thinking of setting up a small altar in my room for Dia De Los Muertros- the Day of the Dead. It's a Mexican holiday to celebrate the dead. In some places, the people go to the cemetery and have a party. I just want a couple candles and a couple pictures. Some have things like food, but we have ants and I don't want to be leaving food out all night. I know my sister is going to do one as well. The symbolism of having the altar inside means you are allowing your loved ones to come in the house. If you do it outside, then you are saying that they can't come in. I'm going to do mine inside. I don't know what Geo is going to think, but I want to do it and he probably wouldn't even notice. The candles would be burned out by the time he went to sleep. I just need to find our lighter... it tends to disappear on us.
Anyway, that's what's been going on with me. My stomach is starting to feel much better and my intestines are moving again. I can almost use the bathroom like a regular person! Yay!

the alter sounds like a good idea, and at least its a real holiday. halloween really isn\'t. its really just costume day and candy and it feels like its CHANGED a LOT in the last ten or twenty years, but especially in the last ten. it appears that holidays change every 55 years or so, so we are due for a change in holiday. the customs etc. civilization changes and people change. they get bored.

we got no trick or treaters. some of the churches had harvest day last week and some had trunk or treat. the churches and publix rope off an area of parking lot and the little kids go car to car. it used to be the mall was the big thing, but i have no idea if that is still big or not. have to show up on halloween at a mall one day to see. lol. (i hear malls are more dead now as well, because of internet shopping).

did you dress up? i didn\'t buy candy either. forgot. but i did get cupcakes from publix (half off) and they are super good, some for here, some for work, some for dinner at a friend ... cookies and donuts are also on sale, but only the ones that look scary, the yellow and orange ones are for \"harvest\" and not on sale, i guess that is a new thing.

do they have greek festival by you as well? that is going on here.

how are you? you sound good. oh, yeah, i bought a pedometer at target, but i haven\'t used it yet. xxoo

Geo wouldn\'t know because the candles would be out by the time he went to sleep. I didn\'t do it last night, so I\'m going to set it up today for tonight.

I didn\'t do it... I was just too tired to set everything up. Oh well. There\'s always next year.
