haircuts, cats, birds, and giving God the glory

On Oct. 19th, i weighed 182.5 lbs.  I weighed this morning:  169.5  lbs.  I've lost 13 lbs in 3 months --- a reasonable rate.  I am accomplishing something.  I need to work just a little harder at it, though.  I've been slacking on my diet lately.
I got my hair cut yesterday!!!!!  ......at the hairline in the back, over the ears on the sides, and 1.5 inches long at the longest point on top ,,, that's how I like it ....... barely there!  After I weighed, I got in the shower and shampooed my hair ..............  ooooooh, it felt so good to have my hair back to the way it's supposed to be!  After my shower, I dried off, lotioned up, towel dried my hair, and got dressed.  I looked in the mirror --- I looked so much better with my hair short-short!  I was feelin' good!  I was feelin' so good that I decided to get my camera and take me a selfie!  Man, did my bathroom mirror lie.  That selfie -- uhg.....deleted, deleted, deleted.  I'm so washed out, and I need someone to starch me and press the wrinkles out.
Oh, well.  I told my daughter that I'd come take some photos of her silly bird for her to use for a class project she has to do--- She broke her camera.  (I put a photo collage up on ds.  The bird tried to eat my camera lens -- open wide!  Oh yeah, her husband has a silly bird, too.  What is the deal with my family and bird-brains?).  And, I needed to go to Walmart, So, I loaded up and headed to her town.  I was almost there ---- I was inside the city limits, approaching the 1st stoplight when the Monkeys came on the radio  ---  "I thought love was only true in fairy tales".  I start singing along, bouncing with the music, --- "And I saw her face, now I'm a believer!" ---  Then I realize, I've just stopped at a red light, there are cars on both sides of me.  What if people are watching me act like an idiot.  Even worse, what if somebody can hear me! (not likely, but oh, my word, what if?)  I never could carry a tune ....... when I wanted the hogs to come to up the gate, I had to shake a feed bucket, if I called to them, they ran away (well, one of them did, anyway)!
Now, I know I sound even worse than I did then, with the damage to my vocal cords.  I probably sound like that kitten that my daughter put in the washing machine.  Yes, she did.  When she was about 4 years old, she had 3 kittens.  We had a dog who liked to carry the kittens around in his mouth.  One day, when the kittens were about 12 weeks old,  my daughter decided one of the kitties needed a bath because it smelled like doggy breath.  I had a load of bluejeans going in the washing machine on the heavy duty cycle, cold water.  My daughter decided that if the washer made the jeans smell good, it should work for the kitty, too.   In goes the kitty.  I didn't see her do it, I just heard the blood-curdling sounds:  MEEEEYYOOOoowwwweeeeeeeeeee .......... ccchhhuuuurrrrgggoggglegurrgle-gurgle ................... MEEEEYYOOOoowwwweeeeeeeee.   With my one functional ear, I tracked the sound to the washing machine and very cautiously raised the lid with a fly swatter handle and peeked in .......... there was kitty-kitty.  I opened the lid completely as the kitty, mouth and eyes wide open, paws and claws extended, all wet and sudsy and cold, started going under for the 5th or 6th time.  I turned the machine off, plunged my arm into the murky deep, and fished kitty out.  After a couple of hours, kitty was okay, but that bath probably shaved off 6 of her 9 lives.
But I thought, I don't care if I do sound like a drowning cat!  I'm gonna sing and dance, right here in my car, right here at the red light!  Who cares if people can see and hear me.  Then I remembered .......... I'm less than 1.5 miles away from the mental institution ......... they can have one of those trucks out here to pick me up before I make it to the next intersection!!!  Every time we go past that mental institution, my husband points at the Gothic structure and says me, "That's going to be your retirement home." Then he laughs.
Oh, who cares!  They'll let me listen to the radio at the mental institution ........... music is therapeutic!  da da dum dum dum .......... "And then I saw her face, Now i'm a believer.  Not a trace Of doubt in my mind.  I'm in love."
Music really is therapeutic.  I need to listen to music on my radio more!  I have no musical inclination whatsoever, but I can certainly understand why Serce incorporates music into so many of her journals.  Maybe our bodies can't do so much anymore, but our souls can surely dance.
Ecclesiastes 3: 1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven: ........... 4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; ........
Whether we are considered to be graceful or clumsy by man's standards, let's dance, and give God the glory!

First of all, congrats on the weight loss! I\'m a thin person since CFS. Pre-CFS I was always about ten pounds overweight. Weight loss is difficult. Also, I found that with the extra weight, I had breasteses! I liked that. Hubby has a standing joke that I could wear a Maidenform T-shirt inside out and it would fit! HARUMPH! Mean old geezer.....

Well, I guess we should be proud of our kids for figuring out that if the washer/dryer could clean our clothes and make them smell good, that the same thing should happen to kitty, kitty. We just need to tweak our pet care lesson with the kids, so that they realize that this cleaning has nothing to do with laundry equipment. We can do this. Glad you were present for the CPR on kitty!

I\'ll have that Monkey\'s song in my head all day now. Jeepers, it\'s only four thirty in the morning. These kids these days will never know REALLY good music. The Dobbie Brothers, Steely Dan, Supertramp, The Temptations, Donna Summer. AH, the sixties and seventies. LOVED the music.

So you just crank it up, roll down the windows, let the frigid air in, and your voice out and just bellow out your tunes. Gratefulness sounds good no matter how cold it is outside!!

Hope the bird, class project turns out really well!! GO YOU, MOM!!!

glad you got your hair do just the way you like it! bet it\'s really cute!!!! thanks for sharing the pics of daughter with BIG BIRD! very cool........i used to sing everywhere all the time........and now i borrow the internet cause i don\'t always have the energy to project the music, but the soul needs it..........to celebrate, to dance on the inside.........to feel vital and jOYOUS!

i\'m so glad you sing in your car loud and proud! if i rolled into your town i\'d be the other one being nominated for a place in the big facility........and NOT CARE!!!! life and joy trump all.

i just watched a make up spot that advised putting concealer on the top lid as well as below the eyes.........i tried it.......and it made me laugh really hard......so although it did not improve my looks it did give me a good cardio work out ! i used to wear make-up every day and now that case gets dusty from being used so seldom. every blue moon or so i break it out, put on a little of this and that..........the last time i went out i put on vanilla sugar lotion, chapstick and felt downright ladylike! i have turned into a low maintenance babe and while i am not anti appearance, i just save as much energy as i can and put on lady glow sparingly............i do have a face moisturiser that gives the face a bit of a glow.......and a light foundation that gives a glow too........i usually only remember to use the face wash.........it really does brighten the skin and it has a great citrusy scent to that WAKES ME UP. i can\'t drink JUICE, but this is almost as good!

rambling away....................when i dance i am usually sitting in my chair and when i feel good enough i do a one chair spin and that is my dancing with the stars in home solo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wow hon, so happy for you..........that\'s great in care of your health goals, wisely lost weight doesn\'t fly back on the bod.....................you are doing great!!!! big hugs, xoxoox, back to the grammies, xoxoox
