Guitar Tongs
Well, darn. I was really hoping for another dream message, but I can't remember much from last night's. Here's what I do remember:
Something about a pool. A friend from high school was there. She left when she saw me- no surprise. Things ended badly between us. A door of some sort. Think I was trying to get through. A guy who had just had a conversation with my husband- he seemed to think something was very wrong with him mentally. "Is he for real?" he asked. My husband had lost a ton of weight- looked very unhealthy. Then I went to a restaurant with a group of guys- I think they were my friends, though I've never met them in real life- except for my husband's cousin, Scott. He was there with a guitar. I wanted to play it- sort of wanted to show off. But the strings weren't strings- they were like tongs of a big fork- and the pick was a pen cap. I tried to make it work, but it didn't. I was a bit embarrassed.
My interpretation: The friend from high school didn't want to deal with me because she still saw me as who I used to be. This could actually represent my husband- he won't ever see me for who I am. I will always be the shy, needy little girl I was when we first met. The door seems pretty obvious- it will be a struggle to get out of where I am in life right now. My husband is likely going to go down a bad path- he's had struggles with substance abuse before, and has just recently started to drink heavily, so it seems very likely that these issues will become more prominent. The person questioning his mental state- either he currently has mental problems (more severe than I've realized) or they are about to get really bad- to the point where it is noticeable to all who cross paths with him (or maybe he'll just be incoherent from drugs or alcohol.) The guitar is very interesting- I think it means that I've learned a lot of skills- I'm thinking life skills, relationship skills, coping skills- but it will be difficult for me to reveal this new me to another man. My old issues- self consciousness, self doubt- will likely stand in the way.
