Rescued a dog a few months back. Great choice because she's a good girl and is company for me. I'd recommend it to anyone recently widowed. You get exercise, companionship and protection all in one fur baby.
I had a dog for one week. They are like babies who always need attention and to be looked after: always have water in their dish, put food down in their regular routine and always take them out for a walk/pee etc. Its work all the time. I agree though pets are good companions for those of us who live alone whether thru loss or break ups or choice.
