it took a decade or three of therapy for me to separate "humiliation" and "humility." the humiliation of child prostitution left heavy marks on me and believed that escaping that world required a pride fierce enough to just say know to any and all further humiliation. i still believe that, but? ? ? pride goeth before the fall? is there a synonym for humility which uses a different root word than "humiliation?" like "psych" and "psycho," there doesn't seem to be one.
setting that psycho snot knot aside for now. . .
in the decade or three since i have learned the distinction, i have come to think of humility as the great liberator of my life. i do not have the power to fix all the solve wars on foreign shores. i need only the humility to find contentment with what life send my way and trust that each and every member of the royal we can and will do likewise.
