I know what you're saying. Maybe it's a life long defense mechanism. Some of that biological aspect
of our illness where the mind maybe with the clarity is the harbinger of the mud flop to come. LOL
Maybe it’s about finding that moment of believing the sweet illusion and you then let up your guard from defining from within, only to find the old dynamic still at play?
I also loved Janet’s comments on my other journal. Where she said the rules are really tight at the monastery and so people get really fraught and stressed over covering them. It’s maybe an observation that can help me think about and evaluate my time here. Whether it’s good for me or not or viable for me or not.
i subscribe to the theory that we are in this life to learn. those moments of clarity tell the cosmos i am ready for the next level. bring on the buckets of mud. i often wish god had less confidence in me.
i'll second the notion that life is moments. seize the moments and the big picture is already taken care of.

In high school I called something similar the 'exploding box theory' - just when you feel you've figured it out
the box you've come to know explodes
It’s been happening for me right around when I’ve thought I’ve come to like this place, the monastery
