Got to Go
Well, after one day of working my new job and 4 weeks of training, I realize it's not going to work. It's just awful in so many words. In my younger days I would have hung in there, try to make the best of it. But at this age that's not something I want to do. Now, I'm done with commission. I need a job that's going to pay me even if it's not the salary I'm used to. I don't want to spend my life, working weekends and holidays, not going to church or seeing friends. Being hounded by bosses saying give me more, give me more. I don't want to just live for a big check, then not even have time to cash it.
In short, I'm exhausted and ready to go. I say to heck with the big check. I want a life. At 57 I'm no longer guaranteed the future. Heck, I'm not even guaranteed this second.
So, I'm saying goodbye to this job, hello life.

You have to do what is best for yourself and no one can tell you what to do. What about dog walking or dog sitting. AT last you will actually earn the money ad no boss telling you what to do. At our age, its best to do what is the best for ourselves.
Good for you having the courage to do what\'s best for you. Look for something that you think you can enjoy. I worked in a hospital for many years, but at this time IF I were to work it would be in retail stores. Not a lot of money, but I loved it back when I was young. Sharon

I hope this choice doesn\'t hurt you when looking for something else. I was lucky. I worked five years at a place and got a pension for life, a early retirement and a Trek mountain bike as a going away present. Even got some money too. That was when I was at about your age. I hope you have good luck.

Well said, rachel. The industry I\'m in is very close, so I\'ve got to do it in a nice way or my reputation would be ruined. I\'ve already had a chance to interview with another company in the same industry, but I\'ll probably have to turn the interview down and wait till I can come up with a reason for leaving this company. I\'m ready to go, but don\'t want to shoot myself in the foot to do it.
