Good with the bad...
WEll, I've had good and semi-bad news lately. CT SCAn, no CANCER!!! Awesome! Also showed a small kidney stone on left kidney. I had it 6 months ago but I guess I didn't know or pay attention at the time. It's now 4mls, so he kind of wants to watch it, but might go ahead and do 'surgery'. They break it up somehow....day surgery. Now, day surgery is does not impress me much since I had my kidney out and went home less than 24 hours later!! Weird thing...doc gave me a diet to help with stone. Well, it has spinach on the 'please don't eat' list, and every other fruit and veg on the "try not to eat" list. I was knocked on my but. What am I suposed to eat??? hummmmm......
Oh a 100% happy note, I am on the right track for exercise and diet. We have a pool, and I have just been swimming laps for an hour every day. Every day!! I get so excited to hurry home and do my exercise. My back has been hurting, so walking was not working out for me. Also, living in Texas, you have to wake up at 3:00 to walk when it's not HOT! The swimming is really making me feel GOOD. Also on the app, "My fitness Pal". Love it. It tracks your food/calories, nutrition, and exercise. I used to be a very avid exerciser/athelete. I feel the push to get back to that as much as possible. Kind of bummed about maybe needing "surgery" for the stone. I know it will set me back some, but I just decided to push on til it happens, and then get back to what I can when I can.
So, ta ta for now.

Awesome news about no cancer... I do understand about the thought of surgery. Hope you have a great weekend my friend!
Hugs,

Just read your journal entry. Your story is so very similar to mine! I can\'t get over it. During my first CT scan after having my kidney removed, they found stones in my left kidney. I had shockwave litho in December, then a ureteroscopy in January. Of course, I had so many complications that I am still trying to heal, after the surgery I told you about.
It sounds like they have already put you on a low oxilate diet. Did they do a metabolic study to find out what your urine is doing?
My doc wants to do that because he says the \"story\" is in the urine and not in the stone after it is formed. I have read the low oxilate diet and you are correct about not being able to eat so many healthy foods. At one point I thought it sounded like we could have bread and water. Not healthy whole wheat either!
My doctor thinks I will either have to add a supplement to my diet or remove oxilates but I won\'t know that until they do the study next month.
Good luck with everything. I will be thinking about you and sending healing thoughts!!!!

Hey Roni! Well, I need to pick your brain. You said I could in the past, so here goes. BTW, if you want to send me a message, that is fine.
How many, and what size stones did you have??
I have one that is 4mm now. It was 2mm 6 months ago.
Did they start the shockwave treatment before any had started to move??
Mine has not moved, so it is precautionary.
I\'m feeling good about it, because I think if they break it up, then it HAS to me smaller than it was. the size it is now, it had a 70 to 90% chance of passing on it\'s own.
This is so perplexing to me. The healthier I eat and drink, (I used to drink coffee in the morning, and sweet tea ALL DAY..) the more these weird things pop up! I drink water all the time. Much more than the doc told me to. Oh well, I guess I feel confussed. The foods they eleminated are \'cancer fighing\' foods. I really don\'t know what is left to eat!!!
Well, thank you for your kind words. I would appreciate any help/advice you have.
Love,
Dana
Hi Dana,
Sorry I haven\'t responded sooner. I am recovering from surgery and the days and nights just drift by so fast sometimes.
My first stones were 6mm and 9mm when they found them and they had not moved out of the kidney. So, that is when I had shockwave litho.
This did not get rid of them completely so I had the ureteroscopy in January.
My doc has not changed my diet yet because he wants me to do the metabollic study. I will have that sometime in October when this next (hopefulyy LAST stent) comes out.
I hope you are doing well. It is frustrating when you eat healthier and still have issues. I am right there with you. I have eaten healthier for the last 5 years and I can\'t believe I have been going through all of this.
I consume a lot of water now too. My doc also told me that a really good beverage is lemonade. Real lemonade...not country time mix. Wendy\'s fresh squeezed is good and if you make your own homemade. The citrate in lemons is good at breaking down stones.
Hope you are having a good week.
Let me know what is going on.
