Good night

I am coming to the awareness that when I am up

at the altar with the priest or just the deacon and sisters -

it's not just about my own spiritual experience....

Families and singles and children come in... of all kinds... and I have

to not just live on the edge of my experience

but I also have to serve as an example.

being aware of myself as an icon of sorts - not with vanity

but just with good spirit and strength.

yesterday for the first time a parishioner came in -

and there was no one to greet him besides me  -

I asked him if he was ok -

and he said 'im fine'

and then I said are you sure really?

he said 'well one of my clients who helped me establish my business died'

i then proceeded to talk to him and help him think and process the sadness.

I offered sympathy and empathy and compassion -

i guess being a good greek boy - I also asked him if I could get him some food or water?

he said 'no, it's really not that bad"

and I said "Well, you came right?"

and he said "yeah I'd love some water"

and then when I went back into the kitchen I asked the nun in charge (since Abbess is away)

to come and talk to him - she brought him the water and ministered to him.

it seemed very hard for him to actually say "I'm devastated" or whatever - but his impulse

was to come to chapel - light a candle and say a prayer - and I am glad a sister came to talk to him -

he was much more at ease with talking to her - I told him we would say prayers for her -

he then said "I don't know if she was christian" - I said "She was human"

'and Aemiliane (the Abbess) has said prayers for any of my friends.'

He then said "Well if Abbess says it's ok then it's ok" :)
