Good news for Ken!

Hi everyone, just a quick update on Ken. I had to go to work today so Ken was on his own to see the neurosurgeon. I sent him with a list of questions (his request) and he called after his appt. & said that the news is pretty good for now. The surgeon said that due to the location of the lesion in Ken's brain - its smack dab right in the middle of his brain, that surgery would be dangerous. He wants to watch it for 6 months. Another MRI in May, an appt. with the surgeon in June & if it hasn't changed, then its all good. If it changes then he may have to have surgery. In the meantime the new med, Topomax is helping the pain, so on we go! The neurologist will monitor him for pain so we see him again on January 31st. Pretty good news all things considered!
I gotta go - sneaking DS time @ work, lol, but I had to give all of you an update. You have all been such a support; praying and good thoughts and uplifting words.
You're the best!! Love ya!!

So happy you could sneak to let us know! I think it\'s very encouraging news and hope the meds help with any of the pain and that there will not be any changes that are not favorable ones.

I am sure your heart is feeling lighter and and please continue to give Ken my best and let him know he has my prayers as do you.

It\'s almost time to call it a day I hope... Super tight ((( hugs!)))

Much love to you and to handsome Ed who I have no doubt has your back at all times.

I\'m glad the Topomax is helping ease his pain. Continuous observation is obviously necessary. If it were me. I\'d find the best neurosurgeon I could find: Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, Columbia Presbyterian in NYC for a second opinion following the next MRI. In the right hands, even worse case scenario can be life saving. I will keep him in my prayers.

Glad to hear that they are going to monitor. Hopefully it won\'t grow and the analgesic will keep the pain under control.
If they decide that he needs surgery, I agree, get the best neurosurgeon around.
On the upside, my daughter\'s dear friend had a huge tumor which was removed. She is back to normal with only a slight bit of numbness! She is going to finish her Nurse Practioner Course at Queens University - she says she has a better memory now than prior to surgery!
Take care,
Hugs, Marlene

I think it\'s always good advice not to rush into surgery. Hoping that the tumor disappears all by itself, in the same way it came. Good health to you and yours in the New Year. love ya, abby

That is good news about hopefully not having to have surgery...Ken (and you!) must be so relieved and I\'m so glad the pain med is giving him some relief from headaches. I have to say that every time I get a headache now (which lately has been often lol!) part of me thinks uh oh...I know I shouldn\'t but I empathize from all that\'s been written by the moms here!!!
Linda, thank you for keeping us posted and I will be praying for that tumor to either just shrink and go away! or at the least not enlarge!
Love+Prayers+Hugs to both you and Ken,
Donna
