good morning, thoughts that helped me dig out of confusion this am.

I know I go off the deep end with this stuff folks - I apologize -

I just have to sort through what I am inspired to think about -

My mind splits so easily - and frankly I get so frightened when I have

to face and deal with myself and my feelings..that I kind of freak out inside

and look for something to hold onto.

So this is where my mind went to wondering today - this morning - while conducting services -

during the pauses for my role in it...

I thought about ancient greek life and how everything

to consider from a person in life was about their nature -

To know about your nature was elemental to daily life.

It seems in Christian life it seems we are asked to fight our nature

I wonder if it, the religion, came from a seeking of commonality and what is the universal nature

of man - ?

It seems Christianity talked of both love and grace - and perhaps these are elemental

nature to all human beings - grace.

It seems the religion helps you manage your life with all your passions - and keep

on the responsible side of life..while dealing with those things that if given main focus

would interupt the responsible life. It's about understanding your passions in a kind of

perspective.

My family tends to be stoic and so I see them as holding fast to the stoic and grace of

life management. But they are orthodox too.

It seems that Christianity wants you to live in approval of God.

I guess that christianity is not an achievement or destination so to speak

it helps me in the fight over my animal nature and keeps me in the daily fight of it.It's maybe

an understanding of a dynamic?

it seems I can get "stuck in meaning" when I think just in terms of love and obedience to god.

I have no agency for making a move when I do... it seems

but I need to be self responsible too and live my life....

and so I have to traverse that world of meaning and self responsibility - which is hard but

we all do - it's a commonality and creates comradery. :)

If you have not read it, Meditations by Marcus Aurelius would be of interest to you I suspect. The Roman emperor from the school of the Stoics. Much of what he discusses involves our nature.
