I'm proud to say my feather teens are safe in their brand new big girl beds. I got the 4 mature hens who survived the flock disasters moved in with the feather teens. It turns out at least 4 of the feather teens are roosters. The mature hens have never seen a rooster before. Can you imagine letting teenagers be your first intro to the male species? Safety is a relative issue.
Yes, I'm letting the young roosters use the big girl bed. For now. . . The all-natural cock fights have begun. I might be getting the flock harvesting piece of this operation going sooner than expected. Homegrown rooster is unlike any food I've ever tasted. It tastes less like chicken than frog legs.
