Going on vacation

I'm going to Boston soon and I really do need it. I'm getting sick of doing the same thing over and over. But I'm also hating to talk to people, it's really not a good thing I sent a positive little ditty about Freddy Mercury to one of my goth friends, he messaged back Hey how are you my brain instantly went to DONT TALK TO ME!

Maybe it's just because I'm introverted.

Enjoy the trip! I was at Northeastern U for a while and lived right next to the Boston art museum. They were open late on Thursdays and I would wander around.
When I quit drinking I was in a very vulnerable place for a year or two. I made it a point to look random people in the eyes and say hi. Store, train, whatever. It helped.

I have a similar issue with talking, I'm Terrible with answering my phone and have lost friends over this problem. Like FAN, because I live alone, have no friends, I live in silence mostly. So when I do go shopping I do make a point of smiling and random chats with sales people.

I hope you'll have lots of fun!! <3

I try the smiling and saying hello to people in the stores or wherever. No one speaks or says hello anymore so I’m trying to do it for myself.

Yesterday, I got an older woman at the grocery store as my checker and she and I had a conversation about the current storms here. It’s pouring today. She had no other customers but me. I realized she’s very friendly and probably a bit isolated like me. She has a job in retirement so she’s out in the world but she took the time and effort to chat with a stranger. Because she seemed to need the human to human contact like I do. Five minute chat. That used to be common. If there had been other customers, we would not have chatted so long.

I used to know their names and say hello to all the grocery store workers, the staff at the doctors office, any store I shopped at, at the library, kids day care, coworkers. I’m remembering the lady who stocked the health food section and the bakery manager from twenty years ago! This is rare now. I’m in a small book club that is meant to be friendship oriented and conversation about life. Sometimes I go but feel introverted and shy, but I always come home feeling like my human contact got increased.
