Goal time
Decided yesterday that given I am in a remission of sorts I must build on it. Got fairly fit when travelling, humping pack and using local transport - NO CAR!! So time to take charge of myself. Time to stop using the car so much. I live in safe country and while there are days when it seems the total NZ population is driving on my local roads, I know compared with some places we are pretty quiet. So I can get walking out there!
So have just put up a goal. I miss tramping, my eldest daughter has just made me envious as she is tramping up Mount Taranaki this holiday weekend and staying in hut - all stuff I used to do before the Beast. So I am going to get fit enough to join a local easy tramping club who do day trips into our lovely bush. Want to get fit enough to join one in new year after Silly Season when all the clubs get going again in February.
So half hour daily walks and shift some of that flab that I have allowed to build up since 2006. Plan is to get rid of about half of it first time.
So any lovely DS friends out there reading this give me a kick in the butt! And by "going public", something that I never thought I'd do on here but have come to a point of trust in the site, I am less likely to make excuses for myself and let myself off hook!
Saw GP for migraines and he ordered tests to see if any obvious imbalances but actually been heaps better. Seems to suggest that if sensitive to some foods their negative affects in the body take a while to clear. It is now three weeks of being back on the path of good behaviour re gluten and dairy and no migraine for a week after almost daily ones.

Good for you, Camba. That is a great goal to aim for, especially as it\'s something you love and miss. You sound very motivated and I\'m sure you\'ll be back to day tramping in the New Year. I\'m glad your migraines seem to have cleared up - something you don\'t need on a daily basis - that\'s for sure.
Take care

Hi , I too share my profile and get feedback and support in an unlikely place ( an one line forum) . I found this site when my husband was diagnosed with Cancer and use the site for support for me and others. Thank you for sharing :) . I know for me , my weight and eating patterns are highly impacted by how active I am. My opticals are long work hour and duties at home while my husband recovers doesn\'t leave me much motivation to walk. I do have an elliptical so my goal is 30 minutes a day on rainy days and a hour walk on nice days. Its good to hear your migraine free as of now !!! hip hip hoorah and will assit in encouraging you on the walking. I think any more the number one things we all can do is walk for a wide array of health issue . Have a good one , Gail
Interesting comment about the relationship of diet and environment. Sometimes I can do the exact same thing that would not cause a headache one day and the next it gets me. There are just so many factors like stress, weather, it\'s hard to pin down, Great job with the walking!
Oh, Sweetie, I am so very proud of you!! Now kick me right back so I do my arm exercises every day. It\'s funny but just missing a couple of days in a row and I can see the flab start back! Isn\'t the body amazing. Unfortunately I cannot walk (for the obvious reasons) but I will be with you in spirit.
