Give up hope?

Twice this week my husband ran into our ED and our little granddaughter and both times she rushed the little one out of sight as quickly as she could.
Our dog which used to be her beloved pet was in our car wagging his tail and whimpering at the sight of her, but ED just ignored him as she does us, climbed into her own car and drove quickly away.
Both times you could tell our little granddaughter was longing to rush into her granddad's arms but also looked petrified as her mother grabbed her to rush her away.
It has been the best part of two years now and I am starting to think maybe this is never going to change.  Maybe my ED is a sociopath without feelings.

It is so hard to know what is in the minds of our estranged adult children. Our ES brought our gd to meet us when my DH was in the hospital, then we all had dinner a few weeks later, and now nothing. I\'m sure our little gd wonders why she can\'t see us again. She is 4 and wanted me to come to her house and play. Our EC will have to answer to their children (our gc) someday when they are older and say why didn\'t you let us spend time with our grandparents. God has it under control.

So sorry for your pain. I have no idea how our EC can do this to us let along their own children. We are not allowed to see our GC at all. ES has cut off their FB accts from us also. There is no rational answer to all of this. I keep looking for an answer. There is none because what they are doing is totally irrational and narcistic. I\'m still trying to take baby steps day by day
