Getting Through today.

It's 4:14.  Right now I'm at a store with my husband.  We're looking for Stuffing mixes.  In another half hour, we'll realize that this store ran out. We'll ditch the cart and head out to another store.
This happened last year.  And yes, I remember ever second between the hours of 3 o'clock and 6 o'clock.  I remember it because we'd decided at the very last minute to have a Xmas get together.  I literally called my family and invited them over.  We bought the Xmas tree at five minutes to six, five minutes before the store closed.
I thought remembering the details would make today more difficult than Christmas.  At first I was right.  I found myself in a store shopping, hyper-aware of all the couples shopping.  But then I looked at my shopping cart, filled with goodies for my family that will be with me tomorrow, I focused on the fact that the cart was filled.  If I didn't have family, I could easily have ended up home, alone, eating a meal for one.  And then I thought of the nice apartment I was coming home to.  True, my husband would not be in it when I got home, but the place is nice, and makes me feel good just being there.  If I didn't have a job, I could have ended up some place far worse than this nice middle-class neighborhood.
So, with that in mind, my mood lifted and I had a spring in my step.

Even in the midst of your grief we have things to be thankful for. A place a live, a job and a family. There are so many who are homeless and without a job and also are in despair and if it were not for the grace of God, I might be there too.

May your Christmas be filled with love and peace. Wonderful memories of the time that you have with your beloved.

Hugs, Carla

It\'s nice to focus on the positive things in your life. They are our blessings. It is too easy to focus on the negative. I hope to turn that around in my life and focus on the blessings that I have in my life. It is not easy but Lord willing it is the direction I want to go in now in my life.
