getting myself back 'on the road again'
thanks again for supporting me on that journal entitled 'paradox.'
I'm grateful for you guys and the support you give me on everything
yet the themes of the last few days has me just stretching those muscles
of independency (since my therapist has been on vacation for the week.)
I am not so sure about the term independency but maybe functional
would be better...I'm not going to split hairs but I will describe to you
that I am getting better and better at coping with family dynamics and still
being the person I hope to be for them. We're all a 'mix of humans' with different
strengths and challenges in our psychology. So I just am feeling good that
my work for my family and my work for taking care of myself is getting
more and more practiced. I talked to one family member today who I hadn't spoken
to in a while. The conversation echoed and lingered on my mind - and it was becoming
more prominent than my feeling of getting on with the day. Does that happen to you guys ever?
I realized I had to clinically shift gears and examine what would bring myself to appreciating
and taking care of my life again. One thing I did really helped me get on that path.
I turned on the radio and listened to my fav kind of music. Anyways,
it really helped. Here we go! back 'on the road again.' :)
And it's not 'that song' but it's KUSC.org! :)

It’s caturday :)
Yea I think I know what you mean, sometimes I ruminate on some conversations I have with some of my family members sometimes (well when I get in one of my personalities from stress, I hope that made any sense, I’m not sure if it wrote that rite)
Here with you Pana
Taking it one moment at a time
Big hugs <3 <3 <3

Yes, I've definitely done my share of ruminating on conversations I've had with family members. Through years of therapy, I've found ways to (generally) prevent those thoughts from overwhelming me -- to just pick out any nuggets of truth or wisdom if they exist and let go of the rest. However, for many years, interactions with certain family members could ruin my entire day (or week!). Kudos to you for being able to shift gears, with the help of music!
Speaking of music, I looked up KUSC and learned that it's the classical music station. It is rare that I come across anyone who also likes classical music. Would love to learn who some of your favorite composers are, if you're willing to share. Willie Nelson is always good too. : )
Have a great Sunday! Hugs.
Thanks Ladybug!!! Xo
i'll buy the term, "independency." my spell-checker even approves. i adore grammatically correct deviations from mainstream word usage. they help me think a bit more deeply on the meaning of whatever i am saying. the gently startled reactions of listeners help me fill my minimum daily requirement of evil grins, too.
i'm clicking the heart on the imaginary ratings icons for the "...stretching those muscles of independency." my 7 year old foster daughter's attachment disorder makes her afraid of just about everything. we do allot of work on "growing those brave muscles." you can, my love, you can. grow those brave muscles. she has come a long way in the three and a half years she has lived with me. pretty soon i might have to buy her a can of brasso for those brass ovaries.
thanks arfie! thanks for sharing about your grandaughter's struggle.
I'm cheering you both on as you work together and grow. :)
I'm so happy your feeling at peace may the road get brighter
I have much catching up to do! Enjoy the classical….I have my music moods that balance me and I do enjoy classical breaks.
Independence is something I’ve been pondering…..
Thanks ccleaver and Nikki!
