Getting Old

If getting old is a state of mind, I think I just got there Thursday a week ago.  Strangely, while there is some aches and pains, I don't feel old.  If I am careful and avoid mirrors, I can pass for the same adult I was at forty.  Then I accidently glance at one of those hatefull old mirrors and don't recognize the old woman staring at me.  That can't possibly be reality.  When did that happen.  I look at her and she looks at me and we both straighten up a bit.  I wish she looked a little happier.  I think she does when she isn't looking at me.  Sometimes.  I don't think she looks too much like me.  It's more like a little bit of my Mom and a little of my Dad smushed together, wrinkled up and spit out.  They were both nice looking when they were young.  Dad died before he got too old.  I passed that marker ten years ago.  Mom went on until she was at the "Why am I still alive?" stage.  She did not age well but cared a lot more than I do about fixing up.  It will be interesting to see what happens in the future.  Cancer and chemo did put a few years on me and the medicine I'm taking now to remove estrogen isn't doing me any favors.  I still look ok tho when I'm with my Grandchildren.
I just had an appointment at the cancer center.  Everything is going well.  All my tests are good but every visit there raises my blood pressure.  It is odd how your body remembers what happened where.  I think that and land memory are the coolest things I've learned about in my latest years.  I need to practice the "Quit lying to yourself" more if I want to believe me.  That too was a thought mind/body process.  Ah well, I am rembling but mornings are not my thing and I can't stay asleep.  I'll look at this tomorrow and hope it was the worst I managed.

Soapy, we all are getting older and this ride isn\'t any fun. I don\'t know which is worse, saying it\'s an uphill grind or a downhill slide. Every morning I get up and feel like the tin man and I\'m rusting up and one morning may not be able to move at all. Oh well at least I\'ll be worth my weight in rust. Sounds like fun doesn\'t it. As we get older we seem to have to handle more and more problems. Sorry but lately I\'ve been in a negative mood.
George.

........mirrors are buggers! seriously, i don\'t recognise the lady with the white hair looking back at me......and then depending on the day i can have bright red eyes, have dark circles........rashes on my face, neck.....collarbone........that come and go. blech.........my parents looked younger at my age than i do.......nobody in my family is prone to white hair cept me. my older brothers still have brown hair.........i got benched from work in 2010 cause of illness and with in a few months my hair looked like moses descending from the mount.......my niece tells me i look like i have paula deen hair...........sigh.

and i keep a 15X mirror attached to the bathroom mirror to guard against stray off hairs.........what is the deal with that? isn\'t it enough to deal with the stuff we deal with.........but nohoho.....we have to deal with random hairs sprouting up.........maybe you don\'t.......but sigh, i do.

i was somewhere with my daughter........it was a mother daughter event and i overheard other daughters saying the loveliest things to their moms.........i was overjoyed when my daughter leaned in to say something to me........but oh soapy.......she said, \"mom, you have a random hair on your chin.....\"

not the hallmark moment i expected, at all! ........sheez, later when i told a friend about it we both laughed so hard we cried...........being a woman is amazing and strange...........take care, praying for you! hugs, ruthie

Since the med I\'m taking is a estrogen depletion med, stray hair is not unusual. After I lost it all with cheo tho, I guess it could be worse. the worse one tho was an eyelash that grew in backward. Life can be interesting.
