get away......
the bright yellow nine foot umbrella was upside down catty whampus in between the patio table and the french doors. that is the power of the wind.
made me think of faith in that instant. and then how would i wrangle that yellow monster back into it's umbrella stand. so i did nothing and turned my attentions to dinner. the making of a quiche.
can't seem to remember what i did for breakfast.......remember eating cookies and popcorn later on. i know where is a nutrition cop when you need one. sometimes the heart wants oreos and salty crunchy bits of popped corn. can't eat veggies all the dadburned time.
but onward .....broke out the chopping board, diced up freshly rinsed mushrooms, onion and spinach. sauteed a half pound of mild sausage.......whisked the eggs, added pepper, salt free seasonings.......made a big wonderful mess all over the kitchen countertops and felt mad with it all. a good kind of madness.......the industry of it, the being out of my room, out of the bed.......felt better pain wise than i have all week. wondered if i would break outtta here, but no......after the cookie popcorn parade i ended up napping off and on until 6 pm. so another day lost, but the body needs to be velcroed to the soft cotton bed so whatcha gonna do?
the kitties are all over me......laying on me in a way that should be nice i suppose, but there are times when i want my SPACE. that means legs space, lap space, arm space, chest space.......on top of my feet space. we all need breaks from others even in the midst of loneliness. i'm always glad they are here. but i wish they would race up and down the stairs more.........play more on their own. the thing is that they only tend to do that when i am more active. they are my guardian kitties. making sure the mother ship is docked in port, that as my warriors I always know that they are on the job. even know, annie rests at my feet and rio sits on top of this very chair as i type. .........run kitties run.......play while you are young, able, healthy........run and run some more. have FuN!
but they are ever willing to stay close. i should be grateful for their allegiance. and a lot of the time i am, but as one who is more catlike than a person oughta admit i like space in between me and everything. i don't like turtlenecks around my throat.....i don't like tight clothes......i don't like to be so intruded upon my anything that i feel this choking closeness........i like vistas, views.......something to look at on the horizon.
don't get me wrong, when darkness falls i like to closes my curtains, i like that feeling of snuggling in......that safe cozy serenity of home. doors locked, alarm on, even as 8 million 4 hundred thousand acorns fall from this mighty oak in front of my bedroom window. they fall, they knock against the door, the windows, the rooftop.......they are tiny missiles vaulting at the house day and night every other year. later there will be bushels and bushesl of acorns........a true paradise for squirrels.
the quiche is cooking away. i played with the ingredients. first i put a layer of cheese, then a layer of spinach, followed by the egg mixture mixed with the sausage, mushrooms and onion. added another layer of spinach, more cheese and then slid it into a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.
i really want chinese food, but i don't know how to make it. and i wonder if it was low sodium would it still be tasty? as it tasty like chinese food? hmmmmm.
i thought today would be the day that i would put the cotton spider webs across the front door......add the bats flying up up up.......
getting ready for the leaves to turn to shades of gold, auburn and brown........to fly off the trees in that graceful dance as the seasons change. as the earth begins to cool and ready for winter. the kitties haven't moved......
so if i were well in this moment, dressed and ready to go what would i want to do? what would you want to do? a concert? no,too loud. a play? that might be a lot of fun. a movie is always good, not different per se, but good. a lovely dinner out with family would be nice.........a limo driving us about. i would like the idea of champagne chilling on ice, but the truth is that i don't like the taste......and it makes me faint...it's a hypersensitivity to the way champagne is preserved. same thing happens to me with wine. i suppose i was always on this collision course with illness....and oddities.
it might be fun to wear a big hat........a wide brimmed garden hat? or a fedora.....rakishly posed over one eye? or a stetson. black or white? do we feel like the good guys or the bad guys? wiley winner will or big bad bart? those are not girl names.....hmmm, annie oakley comes to mind. don't know what my lady marshall protector of the west would be? hmmm, what would you go by?
lost in foolishness wishes, and dreams.....the other night i dreamt that my bedroom was made out of enormous airplane parts.......it was very cool. outrageous. i could see the outside of a huge jet plane, the small windows against my far bedroom wall.........and i wondered for a second if anyone was on board. my room felt the same size, but the plane was hugontious....only in dreamland right?
time to go, kiss me on the forehead and wave at me bye bye.....! love you.......let's think about wearing costumes for halloween out of stuff we already have. maybe i'll wear pearls or a long dress with gloves or wild make up, with tons of rouge........and RED lipstick! let the world be our oyster.......dare to play let's pretend and break out of the bonds of illness. run into your imagination and play cowboys and indians....or cops and robbers. have a tea party........go rogue!

I love lying down with my kitty too, but I know what you mean about needing your space. I try to push her over in the bed and she doesn't want to move. I never remember what I ate either. It's frustrating. Love you, Ruthie.
I hear you on the space issue. I've had several cats in my lifetime. All of them have invaded me in this area. Usually when I want to sleep. NOT good! Now I have an 80 pound dog. THIS is a much bigger problem!
As often happens, I'm leaving your journal hungry! Ugh. Quiche sounds mighty good right now! Slurp!
I have a red hat you could borrow! You Know? The kind you wear to a "red hat luncheon". I don't belong to a red hat luncheon group, But I do dream, as do you! Tsk, tsk!!
Love ya girl!
Hi Ruthie, that quiche sounds absolutely phenomenal. Made me want to get off of this couch & go make myself one. I used to love to cook & bake but since I've been sick I have kinda given it up. My daughter does most of the cooking & baking now, followed in my footsteps, I guess.
I know what you mean about your personal space, I have to have mine. My dog, Muffin, used to sleep with me but sometimes it felt like I just couldn't move. My leg would cramp up & I would have to slowly move my leg so I didn't disturb her. She ended up sleeping downstairs after a while because it would get too warm for her in the summer being upstairs
I actually think if I could do something, anything that I wanted & felt well, I would take a train ride & do some sightseeing. I live in Montana & it is really beautiful, I would love to take a lazy train ride & watch the landscape go by. I have a feeling I am thinking like a sick person because everything else I think of makes me tired.
Take care, hope your pain keeps away, hugs, Denise
I have never had quiche. Yours sounds tasty. Boy I do know how it is when sleeping or trying to,with all the critters on the bed. one full grown cat and another full grown small but chunky monkey dog, frtz!! ☺ Space is a luxury! I have a couple of baseball hats and another juanty cap when I am feeling spunky oh and a straw cowgirl hat. Hope you enjoyed your quiche and that the umbrella is now nested away for winter. ♥ and greenies
