gallbladder surgery and double nephrectomy

Can't believe my previous journal entry which I updated a couple of days ago has disappeared- I spent so much time and effort into it aswell. This is going to be much briefer as I cannot go through typing it all again.

Was admitted through casualty to hospital last week- spent about 3 days in severe sharp pain under rib cage- was put on morphine but this did not help at all. Breathing is being seriously constricted due to pain and being unable to take deep breaths. They tried xrays and sans but of course could not see anything due to size of kidneys and liver and number of cysts. They have concluded that it is my gallbladder so wil lnow have a general surgeon on hand on the day of my kidney op to take out my gallbladder once it has been confirmed.
Started dialysis on Tuesday this week but only had 1.5 hours of blood cleansing - no fluid drained so all went well apart from them nearly blowing p my vein. Been again since and it was a 2 hour session that went well- I was dead comfyand even fell asleep . Needles are not so bad either. Not yet discussed any diet or restrictions in relation to fluid or food so just waiting for that to happen. I think I am now ready mentally and ohysically for my surgery next Wednesday ad just want to get on the other side of it. They have approved me having an epidural so hopefully the pain management side of things should be covered. Obviously I then have the posibility of cancer to deal with , but for now one hurdle at a time. Wish me well and I'll try to post again soon after Op Bye for now Julie x

dear Julie, you certainly have been through it recently. When i had my kidney removed i was given an epidural and i had no pain at all. Keep strong and don\'t worry about the op. My prayers and blessings are with you. You are a strong woman and i hope you are getting plenty of family support. Love Nita

Thank you everyone . I am back home and the surgery was very successful. Unfortunately the pain management wasn\'t- I have added an update on the discussions so you can read about my experience. Although I have not replied I have been able to read your messages on my phone so thank you so much to all of you as I really feel as though you helped me thrpugh the difficult days in hospital. Luv Julie x

Ooh, I had that gallbladder pain..emergency surgery..not pleasant at all! You are so right about morphine, doesn\'t touch that pain! I felt like an alien was about to emerge from under my ribcage! That was the worst pain, I have ever endured! I am glad that it happened before all that stuff happened to my husband, I mean I had my surgery in January and all the stuff happened to him in the middle of March..that was close! Talk at you soon I hope...
