Funny ……I wrote this to my therapist

Marc, I’m having a beer. Life was feeling too austere.

I thought about how it’s no coincidence that I live in a female monastery as chaplain. I usually had a lot of girl friends growing up, whom I never touched just chatty friends. Now I’m living with all nuns and their endless need and judgement of me is like they are all my mother.

I need to start doing things that take me out of here. And that I will do.

Have a great night,

Adios hombre,

Mark

That is awesome you are able to write to your therapist. My therapists never offered that option.

when i was working my male dominated career, i often wondered if my greatest problem was, "performance anxiety." there was always somebody watching my every move. commercial job sites often fell silent for the spectacle of little old me walking across the floor with my literal tool box. eerie, to say the least. most days i felt like to go-to authority on all things feminine. i wasn't a lone woman. i was all women every day. yo, bubba, i don't know why your main squeeze hasn't been fixing you a proper breakfast.

i've been told that male nurses, teachers, etc., suffer the same phenom. could it be what you are running into now? just wondering.

for sure, i second the notion of building a life outside your daily grind.

Just had another thought about how I came to be here, in other words it’s a familiar context in which to be myself:).
