Funeral

One of our priests past away recently. I liked and loved him. We just had a funeral and people made glowing speeches afterwards at the meal. As it was over Elizabeth, a favorite parishioner, hugged me, I walked away and just started balling uncontrollably. The antidepressants I take usually blocks my emotions but today for Father Tim and the love and kisses, I just really miss him a lot.

That moment you described… walking away and then suddenly breaking open… I felt that.

There’s something about loss that goes deeper than words or roles. It doesn’t matter what we believe or how we try to hold ourselves together. When love is real, it finds a way to be felt.

The fact that it came through, even with everything that usually keeps it quiet, says a lot about how much that priest meant to you.

I’ve had moments like that too, where it just comes out of nowhere and there’s nothing to do but let it move through.

You’re not alone in that....hugs

I'm so sorry for your loss, Mark. Father Tim sounds like he was a wonderful person who touched many lives, including yours. Grief can be unpredictable, and it often comes in waves. In my experience, feelings of warmth or connection, like the hug you shared with Elizabeth, can bring everything to the surface. I just said a prayer for you and the others there who miss him. Hugs.
