Frustrating week
Well, it seems the prednisone has finally really done its thing. My blood sugars have been over 500 this week. GP's are sure that its steroid induced diabetes and want weaning. Neuro wants me to come in to hospital next week for Plasmapharesis. I'm just going to take the weekend to see if wee can get the sugars and my sx stable.
The kids are coming for the weekend. They always boost my joy. I hope I have the energy to play, but I can always watch.
Reesy's rash is better. Grayson still has me giggling about things. He was worried about his park (swingset) this weekend because it was getting rained on in a thunderstorm. His new indoor game is to take a flashlight and go searching. Rees is at the put it in and pull it out stage with containers, so we can keep her more occupied. Got her a highchair at the estate we cleared this week, so no more food fights, I hope.
Off to rest. Had IVIG today and a bit stronger.

Debbie, I had the same problem . Blood sugar was over 500 because of prednisone and I was put on metformin - 500 mg - 3 x a day. It is insulin by pill and really worked well on me . Brought my Blood sugar down to 130 range very quickly . It cost me about 9 dollars for a 30 day supply. Good luck to you and enjoy the grandkids , Charlie
They tried Metformin and actos first, Ray. I am now on Metformin 500 mg twice a day, actos at bedtime, and 30 NPH in morning and 10 NPH at bedtime. Lets hope by next week they got me stable. I really don\'t want hospital again...Haven\'t been this year!!!
Debbie , best of luck to you -- I hope it works. I get along if I watch what I eat. The buffet at the Pizza Hut was not my best choice. Hope you didn\'t mind me sharing my experiances , Charlie
No, I love that you do share Ray! Thanks Its nice to know someone else has experienced this with the prednisone. I hate that the only thing that works well for me is plex.
