Frustrating day!!!!!!!

Today has been a good day & a frustrating day. I had an early morning appointment, the nurses got me ready in time so I could leave by 8am. I made it to my appointment ok. I made it back to the hospital in time for my physio appointment. We are working on getting strong enough to stand. They take off my foot rests, then I scoot forward. Feet on the floor I raise my butt off of the chair. They do not want me standing yet so my legs do not crumple & I fall. I am able to do 3 - 5 at one time. I also have exercises I do in my room & in bed. Bridging I do in bed. I can not lift my butt off of the bed for more then 1 sec, but I could not do even that a few weeks ago. The steroids are working great this time, I hope they last.
I saw my urologist yesterday. He gave me a Rx for cream for the site of my super-pubic site. The site gets infected if it is not cleaned everyday. He took a look at the site & told me it is slightly infected, that is why it gets so bad if it is not cleaned out everyday. Other then that everything is fine with it. There are some long term problems that can happen but so far I am not getting them.
The Hubby stopped by in the afternoon we had a good visit. In the therapyroom they opened a window for me & had a fan on me so I would not get too hot. Then I went to the group TGIF & had a glass of wine.
After supper I went home. I had another good visit with my Hubby. We planned what we can do on other visits. We also talked about his up coming doc's visits. Then I took the dog for a walk. He was very excited. We had a good time.
Now here's the frustrating part. My wheelchair should be able to go 26 mls on one charge. I estamate 20 mls to be safe. I should be able to go home & back here 4 times on one charge or more. When I left the hospital I had 8 marks out of 10 left of my power. When I got home I had 5-6 it kept going from one to the other. I took Shadow for a short walk & I was down to 4. It should not have gone down that far. I visited with Bruce for awhile & headed back here. Again I should not have used more then one mark of power. After going a short way I had 3 marks then 2. When that happened I stayed on the road so I would not be going up & down, on & off of the sidewalks. I kept thinking let me get within sight of the hospital. Once I was within sight of the hospital I thought let me get on the property. Then let in get inside of the building. Well I got to my room. The electronics are going in my wheelchair. I am not going to leave the property this weekend. Even though it should be great weather this weekend. It is a very good thing I get my new wheelchair Monday. They have brought a manual chair for me to use monday so I do not have to stay in bed. It was scarey tonight when I did not know if I would make it back here or not.
I am feeling better emotionaly. I was very down there for about a week or more. I thought it crossed the line into depression. I have not been that sad for quit a number of yrs. Today I found myself singing & be-bopping in my chair. One of the rec therapist is putting music on my mp3 player so I can listen to music when I am out in my chair or trying to sleep or what ever.

So glad you made it back OK and you\'re feeling more upbeat. I\'ve been down myself lately. Just the isolation I think. I decided to make myself a list of things to do that make me feel better. This disease makes me forget things. This week I started reading the new \"yearbook\" about people living in Norway and I feel like I am taking a trip there myself. Makes me feel like I am getting out of the house other than a trip to the store when someone takes me. You have reminded me of something else to put on that list. I used to love to listen to my favorite \"melodies\" when driving but since I don\'t drive any more I have not listened to them in so long. I will now try to remember to listen to them on my computer.

There are still so many good things to enjoy!

Gentle hugs, Linda

Hi Kayce,

Good to hear your upbeat these days, and good luck with the chair.
